Puffer Coat Inspired by Tayna

I really liked Tayna’s grey puffer coat (could be the model too!). So when I saw one on sale at Nordstrom in a fun golden color, I took the opportunity. Ah, but now cognitive dissonance has set it. Is it too bright? Will I get much use out of it in the milder climate of Seattle? Is the collar too wide? Is it too poofy? I can’t worry about the cost because it was on sale and I have a gift card. I liked it, then my husband said it reminded him of the 80’s. What do you think?

I love the style. I think it's very cute & flattering. I'm not 100% sure on the color, but the color is kind of hard to tell in the picture.

The coat looks beautiful on you, definitely keep it. The color is unusual but it is a neutral, so you should be able to get a lot of wear out of it.

Wow this coat looks great on you! I love the metallic element--it takes it up a notch. And it's definitely NOT too pouffy.

My husband has a big aversion to the 80's too. With all this 80's revival going on, I hear him say "That reminds me of the 80's" at least once a day. And when he says it he means "I hated the 80's and I wish we could avoid reliving them." But I loved the 80's and am thrilled to see the new and improved 80's styles making their way back. I am glad the shoulder pads have not made a mainstream comeback and the power suit is best left in the past.
As usual, I digress--love the jacket---definitely is a keeper!

Gee, I got a good deal - I got it for $99.00. It is called camel, but it looks like a light gold color with the metalic sheen. Mmm, I like the berry, but didn't see any there.

Nicole, I know what you mean about the hubby and 80's comments. I am hearing that often, too. He also added that he wondered when people were going to be layering several polo shirts in bright colors. I haven't seen it in real life, but I have seen it on shop manikins.

We went shopping together today and I bought the exact same puffer coat (Eva was wearing hers and it looks even better on her in the flesh – KILLER, in fact). I am THRILLED with my new puffer coat. It’s extremely warm and looks uber chic. Thank you Eva. I hope I pull it off as stylishly as you do

Thanks, Tanya. I bought the metallic colour that you see online. It’s not cream, but works just as well. It looks great with a black scarf, jeans and riding boots. I have been buying and returning puffers from all over the show for months. No luck, until I fitted of this one AND it was 40% off. Too bad it’s under the Xmas tree. I have to wait to wear it.

A little story...when I bought it it was already 40 percent off. I went to the site again a week or so after I had received it and it was marked down again to 60 percent. I went on the live chat with the Nordstrom people and they gave me a credit for the difference! Gosh, that Nordstrom customer service comes through again!

We got our coats just in time! But gee, today feels downright balmy at 36 :)!

Thanks Judy and Eva. I’ve always been a puffer coat fan and the right one can look fabulous. Love your baby moto one Judy - adorable. I’m going to demote my ancient long cream puffer to dog walks and snowball fights. It’s falling apart, but it might last one more season.

You’re SO right. 36 degrees suddenly feels “warm” after days of sub zero Celsius temperatures. Those puffers are coming in very handy. I’m so puffer happy!!!

I've been following this thread closely. I am glad to hear that puffer coats are not a no-no and certain cuts and shapes can be quite fabulous. I currently live in the Northeast trying to fight the cold and I think there is no substitute for puffer coats! Mine is unfortunately not very stylish but it is on its last leg and I will replace with a nicer one during end of season sales.
