Puffenstuff, thank you so much for starting this purging craze on the Forum! I live in an apartment the size of a shoe box, so you can imagine how little my closet holds. Lately I've been having difficulty just pulling items out of it (or putting items back in) because it's been so overstuffed. So after your posts last weekend resolving to make a change in your own closet, I knew it was time to tackle my own.

The funny thing is, I feel like I'm always toting a shopping bag full of items out of my apartment for donation--at least 3-4 times per year. Yet the situation is somehow out of control again.

I decided to start small last night, so I stayed up till 3 a.m. cleaning out my dresser. It was a really good move. I filled up yet another shopping bag of items to donate and tossed some sad old items that had no business being in my dresser or anyone else's. I created a pile of "clothes on trial" that I will give a few months. If I don't wear them during that time, I will donate them.

Best of all, I freed up space in my dresser so I could transfer items out of my closet (like t-shirts and jeans) that don't properly belong there. That act alone freed up a good deal of space in my closet, and I can finally get my hands in there to move things around again. There's still more work to be done, but I already feel much better. Thanks again, Puffenstuff!
