PSA: Jack Erwin Allison - YouLookFab Forum

Does anyone else follow Allison Bornstein? I found her recently and I was crushing on her sling backs not realizing she had partnered with Jack Erwin (a new to me brand to create them). Backstory- I have flexible flat low volume size 7 feet. Since developing a neuroma (thank you no support Uggs boots) I need shoes that I can wear with orthotics. But sometimes you really need a dressy shoe so hence the hewi search was on. The Allison has a tiny kitten heel and the Mary Jane slingback was both elegant and secure looking. These shoes have been sold out with few sizes and colors available. I’ve been looking for years for a nude to me pump, which never works out, so I ordered the Allison in taupe because the black was sold out and I figured I’d try them for size. Recommendation 1/2 size up. The heels are the bomb. Comfortable. The heel is perfectly positioned right center heel so foot is secure, weight is balanced. No forward slippage. 1/2 size up definitely. Just fit perfectly. Straps perfect right out of the box and most graceful dainty tiny heel heel ever. I kept the taupe. Today was restock day. All sizes. All colors. I’ve already ordered the black and sizes are already selling out. If you can’t wear heels but need heels then highly recommended. Price $228. I don’t think these will sale because they’ve been selling out. Comes in taupe and navy.

Ooh, those are pretty. The blue satin is already sold out, almost! If I had a need for a dressy shoe I'd be tempted for sure! I am still using my EF strappy pumps but they do have a heel. I am not sure how long I will be able to tolerate that.

Thank you Helena, Suz and Lisa. My last formal event, I’m talking black tie, long gown, I had to wear my EF pearl booties. I just had to find something that worked better. No idea how long neuroma will tolerate but otherwise pretty, secure and elegant. So happy!!

If DD ever gets married and has a wedding, I will keep these in mind for MOB shoes. They are gorgeous, but I wonder if they might cut over my bunions.

Angie - they do seem to restock. But you have many beautiful dressy shoes. But I have to say this is the most tiny comfortable heel ever. I though the size might feel unstable but it works. Hoping they go the distance but better than booties with a gown!!
Donna - definitely dressy. But I do like how Allison wears them with jeans. I’m thinking versatile. Only time will tell.

Aquamarine - honestly that’s such a hewi. Comfort and dressy and for me almost no heel. So I’m girl scouting - always be prepared.
Jamie - IKR that it’s so much easier if someone reviews. Otherwise it’s totally blind. Some of the prettiest things in photos are awful on.
BlueJay - pumps never stay on my feet. I had the Chanel Knock off dress shoes in the 90’s. Pointy toe black suede with the strap crossing over the foot and a sling back. The days I could wear a 3” heel. They were so elegant and comfortable. I never found a replacement until now.

I’m coming to this late thanks to @Jaime and I’m so grateful to read this. I was just looking for some comfortable ballet flats with memory foam, and a woman in an article yes mentioned Tieks. With feet very similar to yours, flat and low volume, and then, when needing dressy shoes, the Allison you have described here is something I’d like to remember. The ballet flats are for an upcoming trip, and I really can’t tolerate anything hard and firm on my feet and really want something soft and surrendering as well as supportive. One question: are the heels not too wobbly thin? Thank you.

Hi Vicki - The heel is so low and centrally placed that it really doesn't wobble. I will say that I have to be careful on cobblestone type surfaces. But it doesn't give me the ball of foot pain that almost every heel does. Hope that helps!

These are tempting me but I am no longer very stable on my feet. The doctor told me no more heels or sandals. I got rid of a lot of shoes but see the wisdom in not wearing them. One accident and trip to the emergency room could buy a lot of shoes. At the time I understood the sandals but not the heels. I get it now after a few falls. It makes me feel old but you do what you gotta do. Our sidewalks are often snowy or icy or both. That does not help if you are balance challenged.
