For those of you who love the color chocolate brown, Zara is having a major chocolate moment. And I went a little wild, recently ordering a cotton midi shirt dress, cropped trench coat, elbow length tee, and ribbon knit sleeveless tee from Zara.

cotton dress—gorgeous fabric, and the neckline is so flattering. I need to size up.

cropped trench—beautiful fabric and details. I took a L. I think this is probably the correct size, but I will try on a M if my local store has one. Otherwise, I'm keeping. I'll have the too-long sleeves altered.

tee—100% cotton, which is great, but feels a bit rough, though not itchy. Love the style with the inset waist.

ribbon tee—totally manmade, but the fabric feels wonderful. Go figure. Love this one, but too big by about two sizes. Figures. I ordered an XL.

Not that I needed any of this, but since I have a lot of brown and wear it a lot, and chocolate plays well with the other fall colors I love, I didn't feel too bad. (end of justification)

As always with Zara, I had to guess at sizes based on the style and fabric of each piece, and still managed to get it wrong 50% of the time. Typical. Probably why I don't shop there often. If I can get the right size in the other two pieces, I'll be keeping it all. Yikes, but really not sorry!

I like that ribbon top ! I am trying not to buy all of the brown on offer this fall, because I don't need more clothing, but it's so tempting . I love brown.

I had a good look at new collections last week, and almost all retailers are nose diving deep into dark brown. It's THE biggest trend at the moment, IMO.

I know, Lisa, I find it so hard to resist chocolate brown when it's available. I think I have my fill now, for sure.

You're smart to stock up on brown while it's available. Brown is a lovely color for fall, it pairs so well with so many colors and is a touch softer than black.

Very nice! All could be my style except the dress which is a bit minimalist for me. I like the cropped jacket, and the ribbon top the best. I guess I am not really wanting to get brown, not so much one of my Spring colours but I have worn my sort of golden brown/bronze knitwear a lot so you never know! Good prices on these items, good luck!
Our new colours (Spring/Summer season coming up soon) will be interesting to see.

Thanks, Jenni. I do love the ribbon top, too. I'm hoping I can get a smaller one in my local store without having to reorder. I saw that the top came in a beautiful golden brown color, sadly out of stock now. That's a color that I really like and is not always easy to find. The cropped trench does come in a lighter color as well.

So I was in a large mall today where I don’t usually shop (it’s on the other side of town and always very busy-too busy from my POV, but I had a different errand to run over that way.) I looked in one of our now very few department stores, called David Jones, an Australian import. It has lots of brands including ones I have only ever otherwise seen on YLF! They (Trenery brand) did have 2 beautiful tops in that similar golden brown colour which they have called “cognac”. The tops would tone really well with my patterned pants and my cardigans and some boots, shoes and sandals I have. One was XS and one was XL though, neither my size I think. Didn’t try on, some hard thinking about whether to order coming up!

That’s a beautiful top, Jenni! It’s similar to a color I think of as bittersweet. Even in a photo, the texture of the fabric looks luscious. Let us know if you order it!

I’m really hoping a size down in the trench will solve the sleeve problem while not being too tight in the shoulders. It’s such a lovely piece, I don’t mind altering the size L I have, if it comes to that.

The dress is the real wild card. It was a beautiful fit through the shoulders and chest, but uncomfortably tight just below the bust, where the first button is. Sizing up may solve that problem, but create bagginess above. Because i have limited opportunities to wear dresses (the few I have are all summer dresses), I’m not willing to spring for alterations. I have learned to be very selective in having garments altered! I’ll be sorry to give it a miss if I must, because the fabric is gorgeous.

I’m with Lisa and Angie: now is the time to buy all the brown! I’m an autumn color type, and brown is so much kinder to my skin than black and grey. Hoping I can find and buy more brown too while it’s available.

Like you, brown, as well as gray, are so much kinder to my skin than black. Black is just too harsh to wear up by my face, unless it's a washed black.

Have fun in your brown quest. Happily, there's a lot out there, and it will look wonderful with your bittersweets, cognacs, burgandies, and olives. Sounds like a fun fall picnic, doesn't it!

I thought of you when I saw the Zara brown dress because I knew that neckline would be killer flattering on you.

Great stuff! I don't know that I will buy it, but I have that urge like I NEED it, like passing a pastry shop. They keep coming out with new chocolate brown stuff.

I know what you mean, Carol. It's exactly like that for me. Oh, chocolate, I can't pass it by. Lucky that it's not actually chocolate—it it was, by this time, I'd be 15 lbs. heavier!

The dress has a full skirt, but it drapes in a beautiful way because of the pleating, Cookie. Fingers crossed a size up will fit.
