Joy , I have very slim pants that I wear with tunic length tops. But I no longer cringe.

Lol what changed your mind? For me, it was more fully opaque pairs being available now (the type that don't show your underwear or hint at it (camel toe/ VPL) when you bend over).

Or are those technically jeggings/ treggings, instead of leggings?

OMGosh, I better go change mine too. I have been in leggings this winter and even today, as in right now - eeek! In fairness they are quite a snazzy houndstooth pattern, and the top is always long And am pairing them with black knee-high boots and a jacket when I leave home.

Zaeobi , you hit the nail on the head !!!!!!! In the beginning ( at least in my area ) , there was so much confusion over tights and leggings. And some leggings were not opaque. I remember going to a movie and there was a young couple in front of me. She was wearing “leggings” that were really opaque tights with a white crotch. And she wasn’t the only one i would end up seeing like that.

The one pair I have are a heavy ponte material. But I still can’t bring myself to wear a non tunic length top. But please don’t ask me questions about how to distinguish them. ... it took me 11 years to just arrive at “leggings” hahahahahaha.

Rachy .... and I think I got used to it after all this time. WHITE FLAG ...... LOL

Sally ... I still don’t wear the athletic yoga pant. Even to yoga. The lovely thing is that there are so many fantastic options now.

Star ! I’VE EVOLVED ! Hahahahaha. What you have on sounds lovely. The pandemic also helped move things along for me. I was brought up in a Portuguese family. We always wore proper shoes ( not sneakers ) , and there were public clothes and private at home clothes. Even at my age with two grown kids , I was still a bit attached to that. During the pandemic I discovered cropped joggers , sneakers , fly away toppers in sweatshirt material .... and I’m never going back. I’ve been liberated.

Joy ... the whole distressed thing is so interesting to me. I don’t own anything distressed either. However , I LOVE it on others. My cousin who is 64 wears distressed jeans and looks AMAZING. But I think it’s her overall look. She has funky hair , funky glasses , etc. it’s totally her personality. It’s not mine in the least. So I think I would look and feel uncomfortable and it would project outwardly. Maybe ?

KKards ... yes. That makes so much sense. I also think the pandemic affected that for me.

And I’m just so happy to actually see people and interact with them, that I don’t care what they’re wearing. Lol

Yes to what Zaeobi said. Leggings have come a LONG way, and are now a lot more pants-like than they used to be. That's a good thing! On the flip side though, more and more pants have started to look like leggings, and that's not as fab....

Angie , haha ... but ELEVEN years ???? Yet you never gave up on me. ❤️ And a big YES to the pants becoming more like leggings. That is a downside.

@Angie Are pants that look more like leggings technically treggings (trouser-leggings)? I think 'peggings' sounds weird lol (pant-leggings)

@suntiger Come to the even darker side - pants with side button closures (or none at all!) are where it's at

Isabel, yes our childhood framework can be hard to shake loose. Or you become a rebel at an early age (that was me):) Not sure if you got it, but I also have it in my Pet Peeves in my Profile, although mine specifically says ''leggings as pants, ie, with a short top". So I have not evolved to that degree yet (and hopefully won't). Haha. I forgot all about it until I read your post. Thanks for the much needed laugh.
