I LOVED Fabio's dress -- what a wonderful combination of feminine silhouette and graphic/geometric interest.

Was thoroughly disgusted with Ven. He didn't even try to connect with his client, and seemed to lack even a trace of awareness that his remarks were hurtful to his client. It was as though he couldn't even see her as a person, just a body.

Anyone else watch?

Yes. That episode really seemed to reveal A LOT about certain aspects of the designer's character and personality. It changed my opinion about several designers pro and con, and validated others.

Very interesting episode from that standpoint.

I agree with everything already said above. Ven was never a favorite, but after watching his behavior I'm really not a fan...and he was just clueless about it!

One standout who I hadn't loved before was Gunnar. He can be rather catty, but I loved the connection he made with his "real" woman.

I agree with you both. It was a very revealing episode that also changed my opinion about many of the designers. My husband watched with me and said he enjoyed this episode more than most. Watching the designers adapt--or fail to adapt--their thinking to design for "real" bodies was fascinating.

Agreed! Something about those challenges always brings out the best or worst in the designers' personalities. I was pleasantly surprised at how enthusiastic Elena and Gunnar were to work with their clients.

I WANT Fabio's dress. That dress was incredible and love the design and geometry.

Ven he has no social awareness whatsoever but I guess he'll learn in time. He designs well but for one kind of woman. I'd like to see if he can do more.

I was so irritated with Ven I actually started talking back to him in my living room! LOL! While I think some of his designs have been pretty great, he's also fairly one-dimensional. I always wonder how much of the "good" and "evil" is editing, but I just lost all respect for him with his comments and flat-out rude behavior. And who exactly is he designing for? Can you only be a size 0-4 and 6 feet tall to be worthy of his designs? His client base is going to be awfully small! Agreed that it was fun to see the nicer sides of Gunnar and Elena come through. Fabio's dress was *so cool* and it was so much fun to see the clients who really felt thrilled with what their designers made for them!

A couple of points I found interesting. One, Heidi was clearly irritated with the phrase "real women" ("Who is not real?") in the same way that I have heard Angie object to this phrase. Maybe a more appropriate term would be "typically-sized women."

Two, WOW Ven came off as obtuse. "My client really doesn't have a shape." Um, everyone has a shape.

Three, I continue to love Christopher. I just think he's funny and adorable and I really like his designs. I loved the shot of Christopher trying to signal to Ven be quiet when Ven kept announcing to his client that all the belts were too small for her.

One of the most stinging of the many hurtful things Ven said to that poor woman was when he told her he was really surprised how good she looked after getting her hair and make up done by the show's professional stylists. Ouch.

Putting myself in her shoes, I would have broken down in front of everybody and cried from how awful he'd have made me feel about myself -- repeatedly, especially knowing that millions of people would be seeing and hearing his comments when the show aired.

Not to be catty, but wouldn't it be interesting to have the shoe on the other foot with with Ven as the real client? Don't you supoose the designer could make the same comments about him?

And I love it when Nina comments about a design being "unfortunate".

Wow. I would love to see this! Is it possible to see it now? I have not been watching and am totally ignorant, but it sounds fascinating!
