Project 333-Lite: Spring Edition

I've mentioned in my WIWs that I'm playing with a capsule wardrobe for spring, so I thought I'd share a little more in case anyone's interested. I'm doing a Project-333 Lite... I have 33 items, but I'm not counting accessories, outerwear, or shoes (or athleticwear, lounging-at-home, and sleepwear).

I actually started this with The Vivienne Files, when I was intrigued by her 4x4 capsules. I made one and loved it, then realized I could get a lot of mileage just out of that, and that it'd make a great base for a Project 333. In all, I ended up with:

3 dresses
1. Teal dress
2. Deep forest green dress
3. Black and white stripe dress (not worn yet)

3 skirts
4. Charcoal knit pencil skirt
5. Light gray pencil skirt (I've had this 10+ years and *never* worn it! I bought it with the matching blazer and pants, and have always gravitated to pants. But I tried it on again recently and it fit well, so I've gotta see if I can work it into my life.)
6. Black/light gray/maroon swishy skirt (not worn yet... I've worn this a few times and it's lovely and ladylike, but doesn't feel like me. This is its chance to convince me to change my mind, but otherwise it's probably on its way out.)

5 pairs of pants
7. Denim skinny jeans
8. Black skinnies
9. Gray skinnies
10. Charcoal ankle dress pants (not worn yet... I can't figure out if I like the length and fit. I'll be asking for feedback when I do wear them.)
11. Light gray dress pants (not worn yet; matches the light gray pencil skirt and light gray blazer)

15 shirts
12. White button-down (not worn yet)
13. White sleeveless with pleated front (not worn yet)
14. White sleeveless linen (not worn yet... I need to acquire a camisole to wear under this as it's quite sheer)
15. White sleeveless button-down
16. Light blue with tie-front detail
17. Black tee
18. White tee
19. Gray v-neck sweater (if the weather doesn't cool down significantly, this one's finished for the season)
20. Black & white spotted button-down blouse
21. Light blue/cream/gray paisley
22. Blue/white geometric shirt (has to be worn with a tank or camisole, which I'm not counting in the 33)
23. Long-sleeve gray tee with faux-leather shoulders (this one may also be finished if it doesn't cool down again)
24. Black/white striped button-down
25. Blue/white striped button-down
26. Navy sleeveless with asymmetrical drape

7 Toppers
27. Grey vest (not worn yet)
28. Light gray blazer (not worn yet; matches the pants and pencil skirt, so I have a whole suit if I want it)
29. Raisin cardigan with faux leather hood and sleeves (included in finds; I've worn this once, on a weekend, and I keep waiting for a casual Friday that's cool enough but not rainy so I can wear it to work... so far that hasn't happened)
30. Black kimono (usually worn over my dresses when I need warmth at work)
31. Gray cardigan
32. Black military jacket
33. Charcoal blazer (my J Crew thrift store treasure)

(And as you can see, my love of teal extends to my home decor and hangers, too.)

Teal is one of my favourite colours so I love the palette you have chosen - and the clothes. I've never tried project 333, but I work with a very small, cohesive wardrobe anyway, so the idea appeals to me. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for sharing your item break down. Very color cohesive and looks like a good balance across item types. Glad to see a little bit of some red/maroon in there as I'd expect those are great colors on you.
It's interesting that you're including some items you're on the fence
about (particularly the two skirts), definitely worth reflecting on when
this time period is over.

ALSO interesting that you're including both work and weekend wear; I'd definitely be inclined to do just work! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts when over

This is very inspiring and something I've only tried for travel or capsule building. Please let us know your thoughts at the end of your project. I suspect that some items will still be unworn.

I'm intrigued that you chose so many items that have not yet been worn, or that seem to have some strikes against them--that adds a twist to the basic plan, I think.

Aida, I *do* cheat on the weekends a bit, and haven't been sweating it. I've mostly been pulling from this wardrobe, but will occasionally grab a graphic tee or pair of shorts if weather and activities call for it.

Joy, I suspect you may be right about unworn items at the end. 33 items seems like a lot when it includes favorites that can be worn to death! But I have through June 20 to go, so about a month left...

Emily K, I realized after I wrote the post that I should have used different words... I've worn everything in the capsule before (except that light gray pencil skirt), but the ones marked "not worn yet" haven't been used since I built the capsule. I was a little shocked to realize that I haven't used almost a third of the capsule; I probably could have counted shoes after all (but I like to change up shoes and heel heights for foot health, so didn't want to discourage that). But you're right; having some "maybes" in the rotation does change up the game, and I think it gives me some extra focus to examine them critically.

shevia and cindysmith, Thanks! It makes me happy to see that pop of teal every time I open my closet. Every so often I think about replacing them with wooden hangers since those look so clean and elegant, but the velvety ones do a nice job of keeping things from falling off.
