Angie’s Friday post got me thinking about unusual profiles that aren’t represented much at retail. My favourite fashion era is the late 1920’s-early 1930’s when dropped waist dresses or long tops over skirts was in vogue. This is not a profile much represented in fashion at the moment. I still have images from Comrags and L’Wren Scott from 5 or 6 years ago when they did a season of dropped waist looks.
There are other profiles (50’s ‘New Look’ with the nipped waist and full skirt and early 1960’s mod clean lines, short hems) that seem minimally available unless as actual vintage in thrift and consignment shops.
Is there a profile that you wish was more represented at retail? It might be from a distinct era, or it might actually be from a culture (I’m thinking shalwar kameez (tunic over pants) or Cheongsam (high neck sheath). Would you wear it if it spoke to your heart, but wasn’t trending?
