Problem solved: I look best in darks, too.

Thanks to Elly's post I realized the common denominator among the outfits I liked, but can't quite emulate. They all have a punch of a very bright color. However, my clothes are all dark and kind of dull. I guess it's time to buy something metallic. Or chartreuse.

Any other suggestions for a deep winter?

Deep jewel tones should look great on a deep winter. They would bring a punch of that color you like while also staying within your dark comfort zone.

Daytime sparkle in deep tones like navy or even silver might be helpful. Other textures could give variety too...leather, suede, satin, chunky knits that cast shadows, velvet and velveteen...

Icy grey and white as well as ice blue are all fab pops (a blouse that shows just under a jacket, a scarf, jewlery) for dark winters.

I don't do color analysis but Elly's post inspired me to do a list of "my colors" - meaning colors I like AND that I wear well. That brought it down to very few:

Reds: hot pink, dark red
Oranges: true orange
Yellows: citron
Greens: emerald, chartreuse, dark olive, pine
Purples: ultraviolet, royal, eggplant
Blues: cobalt, ink, navy
Neutrals: black, charcoal, mushroom

That's actually not a whole lot! There are other almost-jewel colors I could wear but don't, like teal or coral.
