Prince or Princess? Royal K/R

(I've been busy with my camera, sorry for posting so much in one go, but I seem to go in spurts!)

I have a hunch what I should do, but I'm posting to learn even more about the Prince/Princess differences, and where I am on the Royal spectrum

Trying to add a new coat to get thru another winter:

1-4. Urban Prince? By Marella, sized to fit my hips and alterations pinned the back like they would take it in (that's the little fins down each side)

5-6. Urban Princess? Karen Millen - this size is too big, but I could try the next size down. It's a lot of coat, and maybe I'm more Prince than Princess?

What do your eyes see? Thanks for any and all insights, comments, etc.

prefer princess! to me, the size across the shoulders is good. where does the waist hit you--the pockets seem a bit low. if the waist is good, the i eould just shorten.

are you committed to selecting one of these two? or is there an option for more shopping?

The KM coat, as beautiful as it is, completely overwhelms you - both in style and in pattern. And I know it's a size too big.

I like #3 a lot!! Stunning on you and good job with the at home chop-chop alteration.

Hmm, this is a tough one. I really like the print of the princess version but it seems way too big for you, the pockets, the collar, especially the length. The first one I really like but only when it is belted.

Yes, the KM (princess) pockets are so low I have to reach down to find them!

So, Angie, even sizing down, the KM should go back?

#1-4 are the same coat and I would take the Marella back to Macy's for alterations IF it's a keeper. . .she just left it pinned so I could photo it at home.

The first one will be nice when altered. I much prefer it with the belt.

I echo Amy --- and I think #1 definitely has princely leanings. Kind of "British High Street" to my eye.

I also love #3 and agree the other one is overwhelming you beyond just a size issue - I think that big all over pattern would be tough on many people, actually (and I don't mean "figure flattery", it's just a lot of pattern that can easily overwhelm. It's almost like the pattern is the wrong scale for the coat, actually).

I only like the first one belted, although I admit I'm maybe not envisioning the alteration correctly. If it would eliminate the bunching at the waist and back? I think the smaller KM is worth a try, though it'd probably need a shortening even then.

Sara, before you size down on the KM, the pockets were still too low for me, I'm 5'8" and I ordered a size 10, which I think is a size down from yours. The coat was still overwhelming on me. Sadly, the length seems to vary a lot between sizes. The size 6 I tried with Mochi, was the perfect length for me.

If you like to size down, the NYC Soho store has the size 10 I returned. Perhaps it is not sold yet.

I honestly don't like either one. You can do better!

I looked in earlier but felt this was over my head. Seeing Angie's comments hit the nail on the head for what I was thinking. The coat does seem to overwhelm you:(

I like the first one belted and altered. I like the second one, though I know others don't. I think it is pretty, if a bit too big. Which vibe do you want? If you are looking for a more princess style, I vote keep looking!

I prefer the first one. It reminds me of the Duke of Windsor. (in a good way)

I'm not sure either of these is a 10. Or fit for Your Royal Highness. I prefer #1 belted. #2 is a FAB coat but looks like too much, and I don't think one size down will do what's necessary. Alas....
