pretty blouses with long sleeves?

I like layering pretty blouses under my moto jacket, blazer and various cardigans, like this:

Unfortunately, the ones I find are either sleeveless or short-sleeved. It is getting pretty cold in my neck of the woods (it was 40 degrees this morning when I left for work, brrr!) so there is no way they will work even layered under thick cardigans.
Do you have this problem? What do you do? Where can I find long sleeved pretty blouses?

I totally sympathize... I see mostly sleeveless ones too, most long sleeves are knits or button fronts. If you plan on leaving the cardigan/jacket on, you could wear a long sleeve T under your blouse, so the sleeves would never show, but give you warmth. Or you have to search hard, it appears each retailer have a very few options of the long sleeve blouses..

I wear a layer under a top in the winter- silk long underwear, long sleeves t's, etc. Granted, I usually have layer upon layer. As long as you will not be removing your outer layer, it might work for you. That way you have one more layer on your arms.

I can't really layer under my existing blouses, there isn't enough room.
cloud9 - that polka dot shirt is really pretty! you're absolutely right though, there are only a few options available from each store.

I have been having the same problem so I will be watching this thread with interest. Most long sleeve options I see are button down shirts, which aren't any warmer to me than a no sleeve blouse. I am finding layering underneath a challenge as necklines are really hard to match up or coordinate well.

I buy long-sleeved blouses at J. Crew quite a bit. Also, occasionally Loft or Ann Taylor, BR, and Nordstrom/Rack. Maybe more will start to show up in stores now that we are into November?

Bella, I just ordered 2 tops from Limited. I wish I could say they were pretty but they're really basic. If you're in the market for a pussycat bow blouse though, you'll find it.

I sympathize. I was actually going to ask about this but kept forgetting, and haven't found a solution. Instead I'm trying to focus on knitwear and not having much luck there either. I don't get it. Do most people in cold climates just wear basic vnecks all winter? How tragic.

I have some older Sweet Pea and karen kane knit tops much like the second one from Ann Taylor. Sweet Pea doesn't seem to have much this season, but you might find something from Karen Kane. Some of the ones below are shown with a jacket in the "complete the look".

Angie - Did you have a particular style in mind? Do they have different sytles in stores that they don't have online. I checked the online offering but apart from Maya's pussycat bow shirt, nothing struck my fancy.

Jonesy - I hope you are right and that we will see more offering as the weather gets colder, though I doubt it.

Maya - Did you receive your pussycat bow blouse? Do you like it? What size did you order? Can you post a picture? I am thinking of ordering that blouse but The Limited's shipping costs are very high, booo! I want to make sure that I am ordering the right size before I place my order. Also did you have a coupon? Do you have a code that I can use?

Joy - I was thinking of Sweet Pea perhaps, too but you are right they don't really have much. Besides, I am not a big fan of florals. The silk plaid shirt is absolutely gorgeous, though.

Bella, the shipping made me feel reluctant too. It's so expensive for USPS, and it's SLOW. It took them over a week just to get it out the door, so I haven't received it yet. Hopefully tomorrow or Friday. I will let you know. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they work out because I do not have a Limited store nearby and would hate to waste more money sending them back.

I did use a coupon code but I can't remember which one. Probably the first one here? There are a few free shipping codes too but it you can't use more than one.

I have been wanting a pussycat bow blouse for a while now so I decided to just go for it, but I can't say I'd want to shop there again. There are so many more accessible places with better shipping policies.

I've been wondering the same thing, Bella. Had The Limited on my list to check out. I saw a great blouse in a magazine, pussycat bow style in a beautiful print, that came from Limited.
