"Premium" Virgin trolls internet...

I have to admit, I never have owned a pair of premium jeans. But this quickly became my item numero uno since joining YLF. I have to admit, spending the money is a bit intimidating- I am a "15 pairs of 'almosts' for $20 each" kind of girl. I do intend to go to a denim boutique to try a few brands, but right now i have a gift certificate for BR/Piperlime and companies burning a hole in my pocket and a 25% piperlime sale. So....any advice for a newbie?

Specifically thinking of Hudson Jeans...haven't heard much about this brand and no reviews. But I like the way one pair looks.

Since I am hourglass/pear shaped, I have heard that Paige and J Brand are good to try.

I think I should be looking for a very low stretch content? The Hudsons and a few others have some polyester as well...is that weird?

And finally for longevity sake- I am thinking of straight leg in a medium-dark wash. (I intend to get lighter wash boyfriends- probably try Kut Catherines) later... is this a good style/wash for long term...?

Your best bet is to go someplace that has a lot of jeans and try them on. You'll quickle see which brands and which cuts are best for you, even if you can't buy at that price point. Then you can stalk them for your perfect pair.

Ditto what Dana said. The jeans are expensive and you want to get the absolute best for your money, which means not just premium construction but also the perfect fit for you. You won't know whether a line works for you until you try it on. Don't take a chance. Try a bunch on in a brick & mortar store so that you know what to hunt for!

You have to try on to find the brand that works for you, in premium AG works for me, I don't know where you live but Lord and Taylor does great sales on their denim about 2 times a year. If you are willing to wait it out. I once got a pair of AG for about $40

Also if you don't find any brand that works their is also the GAP always my go to for jeans, most of the expensive ones don't work for me.
