Pre-NAS purchase. Help with accessories plz.

Just before NAS I was browsing online looking for special occasion dresses. I have mentioned before that I attend multiple events every year and need a good capsule which includes some new looks so I don't repeat too many times because I am often with the same group of people. DH likes this dress for me so I plan to keep it, but have no idea how I will use it once the weather gets cold.

My question is what sort of topper, shoes and accessories can I get for the Shoshanna dress since I don't wear black?

I love this dress for you! My work holds an annual ball in winter, so I need a topper for any dress that I wear. I have a velvet coat (in finds) and also have been thinking about buying a faux fur bolero (in finds), because whilst the coat is lovely, it covers my dress and so I tend to wear it only when travelling to and from events.

I will be very interested to see topper suggestions.

Metallic footwear would be fantastic with your dress and is extremely versatile. I wear my teal lace dress with gold heels and bag.

JAileen, nice suggestion. I have some light platinum patent heels that could work. Maybe they are dark silver if there is such a thing? I like the idea of a wrap because I think they look so elegant. In practice tend to feel out of sorts when wearing one and carrying it around. I need to put some thought into this. I have secured them with various clips and broaches but wonder if that might look too fussy/TMGO with a lace dress?

Bijou, your velvet coat is stunning! I have seen some interesting faux fur items recently. They are colorful and fun and that could be a good option.

I LOVE that dress--gorgeous color, cut --very elegant. I like the tip for metallic accessories, esp if you have platinum shoes already, because you could try them. I'm with you on the wrap--I always feel like I'm "clutching" it desperately, instead of it just sitting nicely on me, which it never does. I finally found a couple of faux fur jackets for when it is actually cold enough here for that (Tucson AZ...). Mine are kind of a cut velvet look (the SA called it curly lamb but I only wear faux). Mine are black because it's what I wear, but I think a gray, or even a champagne beige might be something you might like if you can find something like that. One I have is waist length, and my other one is thigh length. That covers my needs for most events.....I have not actually looked to see if anything like that is available, hope I am not suggesting a "fantasy find"!

I am no help. Toppers for fancy dresses are sooo hard, because they're meant to be fully on display. In the old days, people would just wear a fur coat to go outside...

I am trying to Reduce Reliance on wRaps for all those reasons. But wRaps are popular because they come in such a variety of colors and fabrics for outfits.

I echo metallics, or maybe " pearl"- gray may be too dull- or something satiny.
Also, since the dress has length and long lines, you can use s longer fluid cardi if it were dressy. Another item that would work on you is a white " blazer" but my idea would be for slightly drapey style. You could search for pics of such outfits. You could try toppers you have, just to get ideas on proportions, as well as colors, as might help you with narrowing down if you're browsing online.

Lovely dress! I have some pewter heels I like for that date silver look - a bit more fall/winter feeling to me. I echo the unfrumped that a longer draped cardigan would be nice - maybe velvet?

I also thought of metallics and velvet or faux fur. Would the deep blush bomber bp jacket in NAS that is an Angie pick work for you. I saw it in person and loved it. If not that, a satin bomber jacket?

Beautiful dress. I like the silver or pewter accessories, and a faux fur cape or bolero would look lovely.

A beaded or sequinned cardigan might also work.

Do you wear the topper just for going to and from the event, or might you wear it at a table or for part of the evening?

Sal, that's a good question. I'm likely to wear the topper during the event because the rooms are often freezing cold. I may take it off for dancing, but often there is a sit down meal and a speaker, or award ceremony, etc.

Joy, I tried to find the blush bomber because I liked that idea, but couldn't find it.

Karen13, I really love that velvet topper, I am tempted to get something like this because it would be an interesting and versatile piece for my wardrobe, not only for the dress.

I just remembered that I have an eggplant/dark purple crop leather jacket made by Veda. It has silver hardware so it would work with the pewter shoes. Does the color look okay? I can try to find time to take a picture of the entire outfit to see how it works, but the colors in the finds on my screen look accurate.
