PPP - getting any closer? - YouLookFab Forum

I've been on the hunt for a down jacket. Not a "major" jacket but something with some warmth. A few days ago I posted pics (#3) of a couple that have since been returned. Am I right in thinking this navy silhouette is more becoming than the white? But - that may be because it isn't as bulky either. In the realm of PPP, today's jacket would be a bit longer to cover the bum. I'll probably keep looking but wanted to post this to see if I'm heading in the right direction.

Another drawback with this is that I'm not sure how much warmer it might be than another jacket I already have. There wasn't any temperature information in the description. Picture 4 is a boiled wool jacket with no lining that really gets a lot of wear. Today was 32 and it was perfect for running errands.

I can't help with weight & such (it never gets cold enough for them here) but I think the fit is good - I'd like to see it a couple of inches longer though.

I like the waist definition of the blue. But I'd also like to see it longer...

I too think it'll be more useful a bit longer (who wants a cold seat?), but also think you're on the right track with the shaping. The navy has nice waist definition, whereas the white was more boxy. I don't think either color is particularly slimming on its own, and have to say that as an owner of a lightweight white puffer I don't think I'd ever pick a dark color to replace it

I also prefer some back-end coverage. I guess I like jackets that either end above the hipbone or end over the back-end or to the knee.

As far as warmth goes, what temperatures are you looking to wear your jacket in?

Cciele, probably teens to freezing. I have a knee length heavier weight down coat for colder than that. Lands End, etc. all have temperature guidelines. This is a Michael Kors jacket from Zappos and didn't have that info that I recall.

Seat coverage would be useful for shoveling the driveway.

The blue jacket is great! Nice to have the option of a shorter length - but of course, you need a puffer with length too.

I agree with all your assessments, but I do think you're headed in the right direction. The cinched waist is closer to your perfect cut.

Can I also say that I'm relieved I'm not the only one experimenting a lot and sending multiple things back in the quest for PPP? High five, and don't give up till the holy grail of puffers is yours, lol!

Pil I think it depends on you, really. I personally am very affected by color and with the HIGH VOLUME of gray days where I live it is essential for me to have light outerwear options. Plus there is something so luxurious about white for rain wear, isn't there? ^^ I think the navy looks good on you, just as charcoal or olive would. For puffery coats I rather like the idea of having it be a color, or at least a less common neutral, since they are gear-ish.
