Potential white shirt

I'm on the hunt for a white shirt that I can wear with silk scarfs. The silk scarfs are slight wardrobe orphans at the moment, to my mind because of a lack of a very simple white shirt.

I bought this one yesterday. I am not sure about it. I am concerned about the buttons on the front being a bit too heavy for the fabric but also is it too much volume? I would welcome your comments on the shirt.

I had a bit of a play with a scarf and again, would welcome your comments on the styling of the scarf. The look is for work, which is formal and conservative.

I like the shirt on you but you might want to wear a cami under it. I like it best on its own, but like the scarf too. For work it might be best as worn in 4,7 or 8, not as a belt. That may be too out there for your work place.

I wear scarves with all kinds of tops so I think your choice works fine. Joy’s point about cami is well taken.
Btw- I want that jacket in #7. Been looking for something like the forever. Color me jealous.

I will be the spanner and say that I don't love the way the dropped shoulder seams draw the eye down. In combination with the volume of the sleeves it makes the fit look a little off.

I think you'd be better off with a more classic cut shoulder seam. That way it would work with, rather than against, the scarf at your neck to draw the eye to your face.

I like the shirt especially the sleeves it is a bit see through though for a work environment.l think that the scarf is a gorgeous colour for you and you tie and style it so well.

Joy, thank you, yikes, I actually am wearing a camisole in a kind very light skin colour. Thank you for pointing it out though. On the scarf, 8 is normally how I would wear it and so that is good. The other ways I find a bit hot and bothersome and I think my neck isn't quite long enough! I think I will drop the belt idea!

So taking into account the above, I am thinking the white shirt is going to go back.

I think for me, it is not quite perfect for your work, the sleeves somehow make it more casual or peasant looking which doesn't fit with what I've seen you wear to work before. It would be fine for my work which despite being a professional job is a notch down in formality.
However, I personally love the belt idea especially with the black jacket and that lovely bright red peeping out. I think don't give up on that!

Yes, I liked the belt a lot too! If not for work maybe for a casual look? Scarf belt would look great with a denim skirt and espadrilles (summer) or riding boots (winter). Maybe work isn’t the only way to get more use out of those silk scarves!

The scarf is very pretty. In my mind, a crisper, less sheer blouse might be a better choice so the softness of the scarf has a foil. I know it’s tough to find crisp and collarless in the same garment. So could you stand a heavier layer under the jacket for work, such as a very fine merino shell or classic sweater tee? That would also add some structure and serve as a good background for the lovely scarf. I like both ways you have it tied at the neck.

love the shirt and of course, the scarf. suggest a white cami, rather than a nude one to make it look intentional.

if you're in the mood to be experimental, you can tie the scarf over the shirt sort of like a halter top with the shirt hem untucked. i have worn a plisse scarf halter with a tank underneath and a denim jacket topper.

I like the top, and I like the way you've styled it. That colour works beautifully on you. I must say I think it's ALMOST a tiny bit loose in the body.... but not quite! Phew.

I like the try- ons to work things out.
You look great in the off- white, but the blouse style isn’t really tailored for the jackets. Not a fan of the sleeves or the fullness for tucking.
That said, if this is a HEWI and you’ve been looking for ages.... I know how that goes, not being able to get the planets aligned for style, fabric, size, price etc.

4,7 and 8 are gorgeous! Even if I could never achieve the look right I love the ideea and the visuals of a white shirt for casuals, or smarts, but not dressy.And think this looks needs a little trancparency-like yours here (wearing that cami makes the torso opaque, as needed-but sleeves stay see trough just enough for a feminine, romantic look).

I like your blouse, and how you’ve styled your scarf. Years aho I worked for a *very* conservative accounting firm and wore a scarf as a belt. I think it’s fine as long as the rest of the outfit is conservative.

SarahD8, Like the Season, JAileen, thank you, I’ve purchased a kind buckle thing that converts a scarf to a belt, to see how that works. It can work casually too with jeans of course.

I’ve taken the shirt back - Jussie nailed it with being too loose on the body and SarahD8 with the low shoulders competing with the scarf.

I can’t recall quite what the letters stand for on HEWI is but I think this is a HEWI item for me.

I’ve another blouse coming today so may be that will be the one!

Yeah a HEWI is a Highly Elusive Wardrobe Item.
Maybe a flat shoe that would make me look taller?!
