Potential holiday outfits, including Angie's embellished sweater and jeans formula

I don't have a lot of holiday parties to attend but I am hosting Thanksgiving dinner and have a casual holiday party at work so I decided to do some advanced planning.

#1 - Angie's recent formula; I am considering it for Thanksgiving. BR sweatshirt, GAP jeans, VC Liliana flats (perfect for wearing indoors since most homes I go to are no-outdoor-shoes zones). I was wondering whether sequined sweatshirt with sparkly flats would be too much but I think the sparkle is subtle enough. What do you think?

#2 - potential work party outfit. I have a long meeting in the morning, and the party is in the early afternoon; most people are coming directly from work, and many are returning to work after. There is usually snow on the ground, and people either drive or walk to the banquet hall where the party is held. Standard attire is probably nice slacks and a sweater. What do you think regarding the color, degree of formality etc.? Is it too bright or just right? I like this Ann Taylor dress with a topper because it give me more waist definition and hides the belly pooch; I would not wear the dress on its own.

I love the sparkly sweatshirt and flats for Thanksgiving. It looks great on you and should be perfect for the family gathering.

The work/afternoon party outfit seems quite appropriate and looks great on you. Love the teal colour of the dress and obviously the boots are very practical for the weather. Could you pop some quite little ballet flats in your bag for the afternoon? Also maybe you could up it a bit with a bit of bling at the neckline to bring in some sparkle or a pretty bracelet?

The sparkly sweatshirt look is perfect. I wish I had a pair of flats like that to go with mine! (Sadly I can never keep flats on, so it's sort of moot!) Other than that, I plan to copy you ASAP!

I like RwD's ideas for adding a bit of shine to outfit 2. That will make it seem more festive. The dress is pretty and suits you well.

The first outfit is great. And I really like that dress on you. If it was me, I'd probably find myself wanting some sparkle at the neck or wrist.

Thank you very much for your suggestions! Yes, something sparkly would be a good idea - I will definitely add a dressy watch with a shiny band; not sure if I have anything sparkly for the top part, and a necklace may be difficult to combine with the draped neckline. To be honest, I cannot remember whether I have seen people wear anything sparkly or shiny for these middle-of-the-workday events; I will need to pay more attention this year.

I love the sweatshirt with the flats Makrame, but the jeans look a little short. Can you roll them up a little? Otherwise a perfect super casual holiday outfit. Fun.

Thanks Angie! I have three pairs of these jeans, and this is the only one that was shortened for flats (they must have shrunk over time from washing to an even shorter length). So now I can move on to the next pair, which will not be too short.

Both are great! Suz has to try some flats with elastic on the back (heel areea), I have kind of these, and do stay on my feet better than others.

Your sparkle with flats look is terrific! And the dress looks perfect for the occasion. Maybe there's something I'm not seeing in the dress photos, but it looks nice on its own.

I love your Thanksgiving outfit! (I'm really wishing I'd bought one of those BR sweatshirts.) The flats are darling with it!

For your work party I would probably take off the jacket and change into pumps, but maybe it sounds like maybe it's more casual than that. I think the dress looks great on you both with and without the jacket!

So is your work outfit! I would figure out some bling to wear.....maybe sparkely earrings? You can pop them on just for the party.....even if you are the only one wearing bling, it is a holiday party....will provide a good conversation piece if nothing else!
