Potential cardigan purchase for dressy outfits? ETA Didn't work out

I'm looking for pieces to wear to two dressy events later in the year (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....ssy-events).

What about this cardigan? http://www.esprit.de/sale/dame.....K23822_001 Do you think this has potential, or is it frumpy?

The black blazer I wrote about in the other thread came btw, but it was too big. It had potential though, so I odered a smaller size to try.

frumpy? no, it's such a lovely cardigan with lace! perfect to wear with dresses. What is the color of the dress you are planning to take?

Thanks Rute! I don't have a dress yet. I'm still ordering and looking, but I'm wearing my black ballet flats, so a black cardi would work well. I'd probably look for a dress that's not too light colored or has black in the pattern. Or a skirt and top. My dressy capsule is non-existent so far.

I wanted to add, do you think the black is alright for spring/summer? Maybe a different color would be better?

I think the black is fine -- it just depends on what you pair it with. All black might look a little heavy for summer.

I think it's very pretty - not frumpy at all. And I agree black is fine but I'd pair it with some other more summery color for the wedding.

I think the lacy panels effectively rescue the black from deep-winter vibes --- lace always suggests spring/summer more than winter to me, somehow.

It's a beautiful cardigan, every which way --- I'd go for it.

No, it is very pretty. I love the lace material. Don't go too big on it. Cardis that are more tailored look a bit dressier. IMO. You are in Europe, black is an all season color there!

Looks like a winner to me, as long as it is not too long when you try it on with a skirt. Good price too!

Thank you all for your input! I'm going to order it now, I think you're right and it is worth a try. Especially at the price, like Scarlet mentioned. I definitely won't go all black, but I guess you're right and this would work for the kind of outfits I had in mind. It says in the description that the length of the size S is 56 cm, so I'm hopeful it will work over a skirt.

I struggle with cardigan fits as it seems to require different fits for dresses vs pants and so on. I think the lace is very nice. My one concern from the photo is whether this one
is not fitted enough or possibly short enough for a dressy dress. Again it depends on how you like things to fit.

Okay, so the cardigan arrived and it's going back. It's short and fitted enough, but the lace puckers weirdly in different places, not very flattering. And the blazer did work out (and is a lot more stylish). Well, it was worth a try...
