I think Kate posted this blog on a thread not too long ago and I have been following it ever since -- I like simplicity and this woman seems very commonsensical about it.

Even if you aren't ready to make major alterations, it's still a good read and is helpful in how to look at fit.

I will say that my $150 sewing machine is the most significant improvement I have ever made in my wardrobe. I'm NOT a skilled sewer, in fact I call my style quick and dirty. I don't do zippers or hems but the minor changes that I do make have a major impact.

I was looking for pink blazer outfits this week and although I do not have a dress this color to mimic, I love this mix of colors together. I would not have thought to pair these together. Definitely the freshest look with a pink blazer I have seen so far.

This is not a recent link so I'm not sure whether you will want to include it, but lately I have been reading tips on Academichic blogger S's personal blog, Simply Bike, about commuting by bike in work clothes:

I live less than two miles from my work location and am trying to get brave (and tough) enough to commute by bike. I emailed S. for some advice and she very kindly replied with some tips on getting started. Today I proudly biked in my Clarks Brulee sandals and this dress, with some bike shorts underneath. To my surprise, the skirt was not a problem at all. Hooray!

This spoke to me because I've become increasingly sensitive to sulfites and other ingredients in commercial shampoos to a point that I can't go on using them. Even the SLS free formulas still irritate, although not as much. I'm thinking of giving this system a try.
