I'll go first. These are the best cotton knickers of all time in my book. SOOOO comfy and flattering. They stay perfectly put all day. I love the lace trim and boy shorts silhouette. Pity they are pricey.

These Gap low rise hipsters have been my favorites for at least 10 years. They have good butt coverage without being too baggy in front (a big problem for me with a lot of underwear). They are not as durable as they used to be (they're cheap enough especially if you buy during a sale so I don't really mind) and some styles now have this laughably gigantic tag in them (but it's easy to cut it off).

Much better selection of colors/patterns in store than online.

Those are listed as modal/spandex in the description, Angie, not cotton. Could they have changed recently?

After I had to switch to 100% cotton for medical reasons, I've just bought the Jockey hipsters that I can find in my size at Target or Kohl's. They're not particularly cute but they work. Once you're an XL or bigger there aren't many choices out there. I used to get underwear from Lane Bryant and they've actually got a few nice choices.

Laura, you are dead right. HAH. They were sold to me as cotton and I never looked at the label because I love them so much. Thanks for pointing that out. Well then. I clearly prefer modal to cotton because those hanky panky knickers are the BEST thing since sliced cake. I do not wear cotton knickers at all - I just learned from Laura.

My knickers come from Marks & Spencer's. I wear two kinds.

Soma vanishing edge for me also. They are the best hands down -- they do not move or shift until manually moved! They are the only panties I've found who are true to their word on "seamless" and no VPLs. Most boyshorts roll on me (roll up and bunch...) I've lost quite a few pairs in public restrooms to the frustrations before I gave up.

I buy Jockeys in either the French cut or high cut briefs. They come in plus and regular sizes, which is why they've been my go-to brand for two decades, through my weight going up and then back down. The leg holes are nice and stretchy and always fit! Some models are 100% cotton; others are cotton blends or modal. They don't need babying and wear well.

I try other brands on occasion, but nine times out of ten the leg openings are uncomfortable. Usually it's tight elastic. And I'm with Von... boy shorts roll up on me. I think they're cute, but my body wins the battle for territory.

I agree with Author Linda. I also like Jockey French cuts. They are not fancy but they are comfortable, do the job, do not require special care and last a long time.
They are good unless you need a thin pair to wear under a special occasion dress.

The best I've found are Natori Bliss Girl Briefs, which I think are actually the same as what Elly linked to, despite Nordstrom calling them bikinis. They are invisible under almost all clothing I wear (they do not work under yoga pants or leggings).

Since I can't afford a drawer full of those, I supplement with Aerie Boy Briefs. Yes, Aerie is directed at teens, and some of the patterns are childish/twee, but there are plenty of solid colors. Those with lace edges around the leg openings tend to be invisible under most clothes, though not quite as good under some things as the Natori.

I have a high hip to waist ratio, and both of these styles provide full rear coverage and don't ride up on me.

First, there were the VS hi cut briefs - for years they were perfect. They changed their fiber content. Then I found the Gap hi cut briefs, which I adored with their matching bralette until they too changed their fiber content. Not perfect - the small fits well but a little less coverage than I like, the medium has plenty of coverage but a little too big. I wore nothing but hanky panky thongs a few years ago. I must have had at least 20 pair of them in colors and neutrals. Then I moved on to the natori girl shorts. They were good too. Then I moved on to the maidenform boyshort. All of the underwear I have worn in the last decide are trimmed with lace at the top and legs because it is the best way to not have lines on my not so firm derriere.

I am watching this thread with interest and hoping to find a new favorite.

Another vote for Soma Vanishing Edge boy shorts. I think I found out about them on the forum years ago. Though I have tried some others here and there, nothing beats them for me so far. I completely forget I'm wearing underwear, and that's the best!
