Faux fur...yet another of those things that I didn't used to appreciate but must say I've been enjoying over the last few years. What really nudged me was this 70s coat my husband pointed out to me at an antique shop a little over 10 years ago. It is so, so warm and is my go-to when the temps dip below 40. The brand is Aleutian, in case anyone's heard of that. Last year, an old trapper stopped me and hubs to ask about it since from a distance it looks realish. He confirmed that the animal is meant to be muskrat, which I had been wondering about.
Even before that, I had (still do) a vintage 1960s/70s black purse with fuzzy strap similarish to DonnaF's number above but in a barrel shape and no rings. I call it my "gorilla purse" because of the black faux leather ends on it...in fact I believe they are cardboard! I'll have to get a pic.
Then I added a couple of so-called "popover" scarves last year, basically infinity cowls, in blush pink and soft gray that are sooo soft and warm. (The one in the find is a brown, minky color that I don't have.)
My latest is the fleecy "sherpa" or faux shearling vest / gilet. Just happened across it in a shop, unplanned, but I saw possibilities. It makes my old black trench coat look so much more stylish with it popped under (with the collar over), not to mention a lot warmer!
