Possible sandals: classic or frumpy?

I've been looking for the right pair of casual summer sandals for, oh, probably a decade at least. Somehow I have just not found the right combination of features. Anyway I spotted this pair and I'm considering giving them a try.

I like them because they are black, leather, with a thick cushioned sole, flat but not totally so, closed heel so they don't flap around, thicker straps so my little toes might not stick out (a constant problem for me...), and they don't have goofy embroidered flowers or fake gems stuck all over them. Oh, and they are not very expensive.

But has my eye been clouded by desperation? Are they way too granny-ish? I'd be wearing them to walk around doing tourist-y things, in shorts and jeans and casual sundresses.

Unfortunately I have a poison eye for sandals like these. However, if you don't mind the look, go for them because of comfort.

I also never liked uggs and others like my sister still wear them no matter how many times I tell her they are ugly.

I like these with jeans! I think they'll look a little clunky with dresses or shorts---can you get them in a lighter color for those situations?

I love these types of sandals...but maybe I am "poisoned" by MY lifestyle need. I think that these looks great with capris, shorts, and certain casual dress. Paint your toenails a fun color and go for it. And they are comfortable. I think that it is better than wearing a sneaker.....

I do think that because of your haircolor you might want a lighter color shoe.

I think these are lovely, I like the intertwined straps. And they look comfortable. Great summer shoe!

I too have a poison eye for these, even more so after my vacation seeing a grown man wearing closed toe ones in white...

I actually think they have great potential! A lighter color would suit you even better, but there's nothing wrong with them in black either. Do you wear other black items regularly in Summer? That would help bookending them. If you like them and they suit your lifestyle, I think you should give them a try.

Serviceable yes. Not too frumpy and I think for casual wear they would be fine. But there are a lot of really cool sandals now with comfy footbeds, so don't settle! I just got these and they are deliciously comfy!

I like these and I don't honk they are frumpy. With you hair color, it doesn't bookend, bu that is okay. I think it would be a nice addition to a sandal capsule.

I do tend to wear a lot of black, even in summer. These particular sandals only come in this and mixed dark browns, which I don't like. I also have a pair of somewhat dressier metallic pewter colored sandals which are nonetheless pretty comfy (see photo).

Those Earth shoes are cute but I don't think I could tolerate a high heel like that for a day of walking for miles sightseeing!

I'm on the fence, though the intertwined straps are nice. But you have to take this with a pinch of salt. I like the dressier sandals better and could imagine something similar as your casual sandal.

I have a pair fairly close to those. I think of them as retro ladylike city sandals. Of course, I love emphatic shoes and particularly black of all sorts in the summer. So it suits my own style perfectly. I do wear them with skirts/dresses, too. I just think of myself as though I were in an old black and white movie.

Looking at your light hair and pale skin, I would suggest something much closer to your skin color or a casual style in metallic. I like the shape of the upper part of the sandal, but the sole gives me pause.

Mander, I've worn black NAOT sandals similar to those pewter ones and found them very comfy for walking. More so than other flatter models with the brown suede sole, which i have poison eye for, especially how they wear over time. I also felt like they went with almost everything. These ones:

I think they would be too high for me, but they might have some lift in the front.

I love your dressier sandal that you have. I just bought a pair similar to what you asked about, but mine are multi colored. Honestly I will probably end up in my $25.00 teva flip flops more often. I have just not found sandals to fit me right and need to stop wasting money on them.

I think the first shoes are better than the second ones. I agree the first ones in a light color would be a great summer shoe.
