Ponte pants question

I have a pair and I'm not sure how to wear them. They and the few others I've seen seem rather legging like as in form fitting. Do I need a tunic that covers my bum completely or is it okay to have a bit of rear pocket exposed?

I always wear my ponte "pants" legging-ish and then wear long tops over to cover the rear. But since they are thicker than actual leggings, I feel OK having some of the rear pocket exposed. I treat them as sort of a hybrid between leggings and pants. I do the same thing with jeggings.

I think whether or not to cover the bum depends on....one's bum and bum confidence. I like to wear a longer top or blazer with mine, but I think it can work with a shorter top too. Ponte pants are so confortable. I plan to wear mine lots this fall.

Thank you ladies. Caro if I looked have as stylish as Deborah I'd be a happy women. Marlene and Nichole I guess it's just a matter of getting out of my comfort zone. I will move forward with greater confidence and expose a wee bit of bottom pocket and bum with my longest blouses, at home for now

I just bought a pair of NYDJ skinny pants which I liken to ponte and will be wearing sweaters and blouses with full bum coverage - no bum confidence here- lol!

Lol. Thanks for the chuckle T.Shannon. I'm so tempted by Costco's offerings, can't remember the brand but I purchased and returned. My bum looked pretty darned good but even sized up the front view offered to much info!

I'm not a fan of bum exposure with ponte knit pants myself - no matter how good your bum looks. To me, ponte knit pants are just a thicker version of legging - and so, I think its best to keep my bum covered.

Knee-high or over-the-knee boots and a tunic look great with ponte knit pants!

Thanks suzyq! I bet you look mega stylish in yours:). I like to cover my bottom because I just don't view leggings as pants, and frankly my bottom looks better covered lol. I do have ponte pants that are very much a pant so that is different but if they fit like a legging (even if they are quite substantial) its a tunic for me:)

I'm having a tough time with finding tops/tunics long enough to cover the bum and not look like a tent I have been trying on several ponte knit pants to add to my winter collection. I have a pair of ponte knit leggings from last year that I wore a lot but the tunics I wore with them did not survive.

It really depends on how the pants fit. Crotch-length tops work just fine with the right fit. Also have clients who tuck tops into Ponte pants. They look like skinnies ans straight legs (not leggings) - and therefore it's all good.

Thanks again everyone. I guess a legging by any other name is still a legging. I think the pockets threw me off. They are quite substantial I just don't wanna go there.
