ponte pants as lounge wear

My loungewear capsule has been bugging me for a while but I've put it on the backburner while sorting out work wear.

Today's blog post has me wondering about wearing ponte pants as lounge wear. NOw I am working I like really comfy lounge wear - tracksuit pants or PJ pants level of comfort!
My tracky pants are 3 or 4 years old and were a hand me down then. I was wondering about getting yoga pants but the 2 pairs I tried on both suffered from the "too loose at waist while tight on thighs problem" (though maybe all pants will)

So I was wondering about Ponte pants instead. Then I could wear them our of the house for more flexibility.

1) Are they comfy enough to curl up on the couch with?
2) Australians, can you recommend some? Deborah I saw you mentioned them in today's blog comments

I've been working on my lounge capsule, too. On the days I don't go to teach at the University, I'm home exercising, or teaching my children in the a.m. In both cases, it can easily be 10 or 11 before I'm taking care of myself. If I sleep in a nice tee and knit pants, I can pop on a cardi and brush my teeth and be presentable to my family (I sleep in a light sports bra). In cooler months, my ponte pants are comfy enough to lounge in. I have a couple of inexpensive pairs that I use for this purpose, particularly when traveling, since the pants do double duty.

BTW: Even I have trouble with the "too loose in the waist" yoga pants. I look for knit pants with a true, contoured waistband, or with a drawstring in addition to elastic. I've put in a drawstring a time or two myself.

I think they would be ideal. They are comfy but look put together should someone drop in or you need to pop out. Dress them up or down depending on what topper you wear. Mine are both slim fit so like a legging but much more substantial. Technically one was called a "legging" on the label and the other were noted as 'pants' on label (they are different) I bought both from Target. Reasonably priced and good quality and good wearing.

Hi Anne, I bought mine from Target and I'm as certain as I am of anything these days that they were labelled ponte. Mine are grey with a couple of heavy duty elasticized gravity defying panels either side of the high hip, which is where they sit, so they simply cannot slip down.
I would never wear them without a top that just covers the crotch as they are very slim fitting.
They are wearing well with no pilling.
I absolutely love them.

I have been wearing K-Mart track pants with a zip at the ankle and drawstring at the waistband. I like to be able to wear shorter Tees on top and not feel too exposed!
I bow to the other's expertise re. ponte leggings.

I echo what the others are saying. I bought ponte pants for the first time this year and they are as comfortable as track pants, but not as daggy. I bought slim leg as opposed to leggings and really happy with them, from Suzanne Grae.

Another yay vote, Anne. I find Ponte pants extremely comfortable and often wear mine (a straight leg) style to work at home. Plus, as Deborah has pointed out, they look put together enough to go out as well.

Keep us posted on what you think of them once you score a pair?

I LOVE my ponte pants for those days when I really don't feel well but need to be presentable. I like to wear them for road trips, too -comfortable for hours in a car but you aren't a wrinkled mess when you arrive at your destination.

For me ponte, or heavy jersey knit does cross over from grunge to smart pretty well but on the couch comfort stakes it has to be knitted cotton all the way.

Depending ont he pair, yes!! I have a pair from Land's End that are extremely comfy and totally coach worthy after a long day at work. A bit dressier than yoga pants, so I have no problem going to the park or wherever I may need to go (and yes, the park some days is a need. I need to burn of my toddler's energy!).

I think I need something like these as well. I purged my yoga pants at the end of last season and now I only have the capri ones left. My exercise routine is not strenuous (walking in my neighborhood or cycling) so do I really need full-on gear? Then I end up lounging in it or wearing it around the house, which is not so fab. I'd love a pair of black knit pants that could do double duty, and sub in for sleepwear when travelling. Must look into this, thanks Anne.

Just reporting back that I bought some from Target last night. They have little quilted patches on the knee.

Thistle (I do understand!! When I had a toddler and lived in a flat, we went to the park a lot. And did laps of the stairs and balconies!)
