Pondering puffers

I jumped on the LE sale bandwagon and ordered some puffers. Of those I ordered, #1/2/3 is the only contender. The thing is, do I really NEED a new puffer? #4/5 is my old LE puffer - I'm getting a bit tired of the brown and it may be a bit on the big side. My old coat is a SP. The new contender is a XSP (altho honestly, I think the sizing has changed a bit).

Is the new coat that much better in terms of fit and color that I should keep? The color is not as shiny as the flash makes it seem IRL (see #3 for natural light).

Thanks. Oh, and remember I live in puffer-land (Minnesota).

I have that puffer, but in black. It was on Angie's top-puffer picks this past winter. It is the warmest thing in the world, and super comfortable too. I took out the "inner" fur and just left the fur around the hood and I think it's a good look. For me it's definitely more for function than fashion, but for function it's top-notch (I'm in Chicago). I pulled the back belt in all the way to give it a bit more shape, too. I like that color for you -- very soft.

I vote keep the new puffer. You live in MN. You can afford two puffers.

I love the colour of the new puffer on you Sarah - very flattering. And don't you feel silly trying on a puffer while wearing sandals? I know I did. I vote to keep it - it looks great on you.

Thanks, Shannon. OOPS, yes, I meant to say "excuse the sandals". It's supposed to get to 95F here today! There's no way I could have taken these pics this afternoon!

Yes, you need it Sarah! Didn't you say once that you only have one winter coat? That's crazy, woman! Keep the brown one too. It's still very nice, but I imagine it will help with the winter doldrums to have a new one with which to rotate.

I vote to keep the two puffers.
Is that the shimmer down coat?I was pondering in buying one in mushroom.Are they really that warm?

My LE parka just arrived and have to tae pictures but for Toronto I definetly can see needing more than one parka/coat.

Celia, I think they are quite warm - if they're good enough for a Minnesota winter, I'd think they would be good enough for Toronto.

I like it on you. Heck, Seattle has comparatively mild winters and I own two puffers. A mid weight synthetic and a warmer down one.

OMG, Jonesy, I can't believe that. I am SUCH a sucker for being TOTALLY warm in winter. I just love being able to go outside when it's minus whatever and feel great.

And don't you love it with my Nic+Zoe dress and flat sandals ; ) ?

Anna, I think I need to just get over my one-winter-coat hangup.

Yup. Get OVER it! This looks fantastic on you (for a puffer, I mean) and the colour is sublime. Heck, I almost feel like ordering it myself! (And I already have one that colour).

Love your sandals, too, but I recommend you choose another shoe for best performance.

Okay. So......I have TWO (yes, two) closets FULL of coats/jackets and I live in the South. KEEP!

Sometimes it is frigid, yet sunny. It is nice to have another puffer other than black. I love the faux furry hood.

Funny, I asked myself the same question this winter when LE had another big sale. I got the red puffer, tried it on, then tried on my current puffer (black Calvin Klein) and decided that even though I live in the snow belt, I don't really need two puffers. Of course, it did not help that I was doing this during the warmest possible winter.

That said, I do like the new puffer on you.

Yes, I see what you mean, Sarah. I guess I have a thing about them, sort of like Angie and her PPL :). I do wear a parka for outdoor activities like walking the dog, but it has Thinsulate so it's not puffy (I will add snow pants if it's way below zero). Otherwise I wear a wool coat and layer.

Wait, you only have one winter coat??? Keep. I really like the color on you. My winter coat wardrobe is more like a selection of wool coats and then one puffer for when nothing else will do, but if I lived somewhere like MN, I think that one dark puffer and one more "fun" puffer is totally reasonable.

Sarah Puffer Coats are a somewhat new concept to me, I don't think we see them so much in Aus. I do see some shorter jackets though. Anyway I like the color of the new one and I have to say you look good in a puffer coat! I think because it's such a functional garment that it can be challenging to make it look 'stylish' but you are working this well. Keep.
