The “ new “ polos ( circa Jackie Kennedy years ) are trending in higher end lines - I’m not seeing them at anywhere where I shop though , lol. Then fine rib knit, trim and elongated shape with a pearlized button is gorgeous . I’d love one if I could carry off that look . Which I can’t .
It is definitely in the styling. I kind of like them and I am not Preppy at all, but do sometimes like to include a Preppy-lite item with my more edgy pieces.
I think they're preppy or a little golf-y. However, the current iterations with no buttons and deep wide v neck, a little form fitting, present differently.
Well, there’s Polo Shirts, ie the collared shirts in cotton pique, and there’s golf shirts in more technical/performance fabrics and then there’s polo styles like Angie posted...IMO the pique cotton and the golf shirt can and do run preppy, but can be styled against type if you don’t want a preppy look.

I've been liking the idea of polos too. I think that if your style is not preppy (mine is not), you just need to find the right one. I saw some that had a seventies vibe that I was attracted to.
