Ugh, this one is so hard! The only way I can possibly choose is if I am allowed to keep either my scarves or my necklaces, even if I can't wear one of them. Necklaces I must keep because many are family heirlooms, and scarves I must keep because nearly all were either bought by me as a memento of a trip or given to me by important people in my life.

That said, if I can only wear one for the rest of my life, I guess I am on team scarf, but it is so painful! I love necklaces, but feel that scarves are more versatile in my life.

In addition to utilizing scarves in the intended manner (worn around neck), I have also used scarves as a blanket, as a towel, as an emergency "there is no bride here" cover-up at a wedding, to flag down help while stranded on the side of the road, to play tug of war with my nephew, as an ace bandage, as a berry-picking container, as a way to keep rain off my glasses when caught without an umbrella...well, the list could go on and on. I've moved beyond Douglas Adams and his towel: I know where my scarf is.

Scarves!!! New convert but I looooove them so much.

Team necklaces. Even though right now I am more into bracelets and big cocktail rings.

as an emergency "there is no bride here" cover-up at a wedding

This requires more explanation!

These are sooo hard - please stop !

I have to say scarves.

I think I wear both an equal amount but I prefer the look of scarves. So, team scarf!

Fall, Winter, Spring=Scarves
Summer=Necklaces
I guess it's team Scarves!

Necklaces for sure. I only own cold-weather scarves.

Again, I'll quote the ever-brilliant Maya: "Necklaces. They are so much easier. No fussing with shape, length, knots, placement. They are wearable all year round. I can just hook or toss a necklace over my head and I'm done."

Katja, it is probably much less interesting than it sounds! It was a beach wedding where the bride's approach to the site was down a long hill. The bride didn't want to be seen before her approach "officially" started, so we had taken shelter behind someone's giant RV, which picked exactly the wrong moment to pull out. The bride freaked out that the groom might see her before she was ready, so we bridesmaids made good use of our pashminas to create a screen for her to hide behind.

Now that I've thought about necklaces vs. scarves more, I think another reason I went for team scarves is that I can wear fab scarves for much less money than fab necklaces, but that might just be because my taste in necklaces is much more expensive than my taste in scarves.

That's pretty funny, and a good use for pashminas.

I went to a wedding a couple of years ago where the bride arrived (full up meringue wedding dress) in the bed of a red pickup truck, and the groom arrived (from another direction) on horseback. Turned out she had riding boots on under all those white layers, and they rode away together (two horses) after the ceremony.

Sorry, no scarves in that story.
