I try a lot of different teas, but they do need to be strong - no sugar, no milk or cream. Some of my favorites are Yerba Mate and green tea. Occasionally I'll put honey in my tea if I'm feeling ill, but I usually reserve honey for my coffee.

Just had to quickly post to this thread - count me in as another tea addict. I don't drink coffee so tea is my only source of caffeine. I am a tea snob in that I prefer good quality loose leaf tea but I never turn down a cup of tea!

For the last 10 years or so I have been buying my tea from a small shop in my husband's home town in Germany that just celebrated its 250 year anniversary in business! I started out buying there because I didn't know where to find loose leaf tea locally. The service is excellent and there's always a steaming cuppa available for customers. Since I go annually, I just stock up while I am there. I like black tea, oolong, green teas and white teas as well as tisanes/herbals. My current favorite is a Sweet Orange (blend of black tea, orange blossom and orange rind). I drink Indian chai once in awhile but not so much anymore because I have all sorts of issues with milk. I also picked up some fabulous tea last time I was in India - we actually spent a few days at a resort up in the tea plantations. I'll have to post some pics when I get a chance - it is amazing up there!

Thanks again to those chiming in, especially Hannah.

I am not a big herbal tea drinker but I have recently become a big fan of licorice tea. It has a delightful aniseed, sweet taste ( I have it black). However the advice is not to drink more than 1 cup a day as apparently it has a laxative effect!

I always drink black tea at chinese restaurents, but even living in Japan didn't endear me to green tea, or oolong (wheat) tea. Nor have I developed a taste for rooibos tea, despite having enthusiastic advocates among my SA friends

I know I'm late on chiming in here sorry!!

I am not a massive tea or coffee drinker, but I will always start the day with a coffee and an OJ and have a tea in the afternoon. Otherwise its usually just water for me, a bit boring huh?

I take my tea black, sometimes with a sugar if I am craving something sweet. My latest thing with my afternoon tea is to have 2 chocolate digestive biscuits....I have only just seen that they are being imported into our supermarkets....mmmmm!!!

I like herbal teas as well, and used to make my own from both fresh and dried herbs. Now I'm a bit lax and just use tea bags. Maybe I'll get back into it one day.

Anne, I love licorice in all its forms (the plant, lolly and tea), but just a word of warning, it is known to cause hypertension and hypokalaemia (low potassium levels), so shouldn't be consumed in massive quantities. Here's an interesting abstract describing its impact in the Netherlands: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11332259

I love all kinds of tea. I mostly drink it in the morning. My preference at this time is black tea. English breakfast is a staple, but I like flavored teas, too. Right now I'm enjoying wild blackberry. My last fun flavor was irish whiskey cream. I take both milk and sugar in these.

Green teas I prefer plain, but they can't have been steeped for too long. Herbal blends will depend on the flavor but I usually add some honey. For rooiboos, I drink it like a black tea with milk and sugar.

I like my tea decaffeinated and straight up ! I don't like hot sweet teas but I do love iced teas that are more flavorful. I also LOVE dunking graham crackers in my tea. YUM.

I'm another tea fan (although I will drink coffee too). The tea depends on my mood, sometimes with honey, other times with Sugar, and yet others without a thing. I find the better quality the tea, the less chance I am adding something to it. Especially if it is tea bags, that calls for some help to flavor them. I'm known at work for having all 3 at my desk: tea bags, a tea infuser for a cup, and a glass cup with an infuser for flowering teas. My favorites are: green tea with jasmine, early grey, and peach momotaro (a flowering tea). Although sometimes I can get my paws on a green tea that uncurls itself (from an asian market) and no tea infuser or bags are needed. Those are the best.

I drink green tea in the morning - straight up, nothing in it - and then switch off to coffee (with non-fat milk) around 10 a.m. I make a big deal about changing my cups as I change my drink! Tea tastes so good in my pretty, dainty tea-cup! And I LOVE my coffee in my great big cat mug with the cat's tail being the handle! Makes me smile!

I just realized that this is an old thread. I've been limiting my black tea drinking since reading about studies showing that diabetics who drink it seem to have greater incidence of kidney failure. More green and white tea now.

Hmmm, I have drank tea from time to time over the years. I drink coffee quite a bit though. A cup while I get ready & then my travel mug on the way to work. I was a heavy latte drinker for awhile there.

Lately, I've been thinking of switching to OJ or something more healthy in the morning. I think I need a change for some reason. Tea might do the trick. Maybe I should try it again? In the past, I've drank it with sugar & a bit of skim milk. I love a spice tea & my favorite I've had so far is Harney & Sons Hot Cinnamon Sunset (black tea with cinnamon, orange, and sweet cloves).

I love tea and one of my pet peeves is that so many American hotels stock only coffee in their rooms:(

I like Twinings Lady Grey tea. I also like Earl Grey but only if it's the version from Mariage Frères. The bergamot is a little lighter in their version.

A tiny dollop of milk and two cubes of sugar and I'm good to go. I also dislike heavy mugs for tea and prefer a pretty teacup instead.

I LOVE GREEN TEA,and usually drink 3 cups one day.Sometimes I drink the tea with milk or scream. That would be very delicious!!

Wow, scene khun, you resurrected a very old thread! I love strong Irish Breakfast tea, myself.

I never drink coffee. I love strong, black tea (Earl Grey, / Prince of Wales / English Breakfast), often with milk, never with sugar. Eight or more cups a day. When at home or at the office, I always have some tea nearby.

Though I prefer black tea, I sometimes drink herbal tea. A recent favourite is the mix of mint and licorice. Yes, the mix may sound strange, but the taste is really wonderful! (Don't add milk or sugar.)

I usually drink coffee, but am fine with the norm of any land I'm in with regard to coffee or tea. I'm a little wary of herbal iced teas, tho, and lapsong.

I love black or nutty tea blends, sometimes white blends with dried fruit. I steep it according to the recommended temperature and timing for the tea type, and don't do milk or sugar.

Yay tea!

My favorite kitchen appliance is my Breville tea maker, a tea genie that gets it right at the push of a button and can brew perfect tea with an overnight timer. It's awesome.

Almond milk and no sugar!
I am enjoying a chai right now!

I start my day with one cup of coffee. I take it with milk no sugar. I don't care what kind of mug it is in. I do like my coffee very strong. I rarely have another cup of coffee during the day. Sometimes if I am travelling I will have an Americano with cream.
Mid morning I have tea with milk no sugar (English Breakfast). I also have another cup of tea mid afternoon.

Anne I am a tea drinker:) Regular tea I drink decaf with milk and honey. But I mostly enjoy a milky chai tea brewed in vanilla soy milk with a touch of honey. Other than that I drink a variety of herbal teas.

Exclusively tea drinker surrounded by coffee culture. Very strong black teas with milk and sugar.

I am a black earl grey tea drinker. I love tea and love Japanese green tea too - but I always drink my tea without milk or sugar. I do like coffee too and only white, but never after 1pm. I do think that drinking tea is healthier...I just feel lighter when I drink it to coffee.

For hot tea, I use milk. I also occasionally make yogi tea from scratch, with extra ginger.

Lately I've been drinking a cup of coffee every morning, then a big glass of iced tea with lemon and saccrine in the early afternoon.

I drink black tea every day, at least two cups, sometimes three. I love coffee, too, but it doesn't agree with me. Every once in a while I'll add milk and sugar for a nostalgic trip back to early days working in the UK, where a couple times a day someone would put on the electric kettle and prepare tea for everyone.

I have moderate problems not spilling tea on myself and ruining my shirts.

I drink a quart of black tea every day, sweetened with a little stevia. I'll drink coffee only if tea isn't available. I don't like coffee unless it has a lot of sugar in it, so that's the problem. Coffee tastes better, IMO, with honey in it. It doesn't take much honey, but the honey takes the bitter taste out of the coffee.

I'm a total coffee drinker (strong, black and very hot) but sometimes in the afternoon I'll have decaf green tea. I love hot beverages, very soothing.

I am amazed this thread has come up again after SEVEN years!!

For what it's worth , my tea habits have changed quite a bit since I started it. 2 years ago I gave up milk with it (except for the occasional chai latter) and about 2 months ago I cut down to 2 cups a day (from 8+) to try and keep my iron levels up.

My family could hardly believe it! I drink a lot of herbal tea now - favourite is licorice. but also like peppermint.

Interesting, Anne. In view of your last paragraph here, I really recommend you to try the mix of licorice & mint (mentioned in my comment above).

Hi The Cat - I think I have tried it - not an immediate favourite of mine, but it was drinkable!

Tea depletes iron? I did not know that! Iron deficiency is an ongoing concern of mine.

I like Irish Breakfast and good old Lipton black teas. Have gone off Earl Grey...
