Mine's asleep on the couch right now, but if I had to guess I'd say it would be a nay.

No, not really.

I noticed he kind of gave off signals that he thought my outfit (turtleneck, bootcut jeans, brown braided belt, cognac booties, faux-fur vest, and pendant necklace) was goofy, and what he said was "I think you need to commit to the look and really WEAR it." When I pressed him to explain, he said that what bugged him about the outfit was that the faux fur vest looked kind of "stuck on" and random - he wanted to see some other texture (he suggested furry boots) in the same outfit in order for the look to make sense to him. (In my opinion that would be WAY too much of the look.)

My dad, however, indicated that he kind of thought it was funny but in a good way. I don't know if he would have the same reaction if my mom showed up wearing it, though.

So odd - because before I joined YLF and started reading here, my husband picked out a fabulous chocolate brown 'faux fur' jacket for me. My Mom *hates* it - not sure why - but in the meantime, I've gotten a ton of compliments on this jacket.

Unfortunately, it's a bit too big on me now (due to ongoing weight loss) but I still love that jacket and wear it anyway, even though it's now a bit "slouchy".

Whenever I wear this jacket, I literally have people coming up to me to ask about it. It wasn't anything intentional - just something found at Marshall's - but for some reason, this jacket causes people to comment on it. I wish it wasn't too big, because it's one of the best jackets/coats I've ever owned.

That said, I don't know what he'd think of the latest and greatest "faux fur" jackets and vests that are popular now. I have a funny feeling he'd react negatively - not because there's anything wrong with faux fur, but ....because it's out of the norm for me. I'm betting he'd probably even laugh, while pretending not to....

And yet, he tries really hard to keep an open mind, and has been great about my feeble and futile attempts at "fashion." My closet is a total disaster - there's nothing coherent or cohesive about it - and the last time we had a chat about this, he just simply said, "You're trying out new things..."

Meaning, even if I have boho, modern classic, edgy, preppy - all at once - he thinks it's kind of neat. He never knows what he's going to get.

This is kind of fun, to be honest

Wow, Nancylee, you are a lucky woman! My husband doesn't even know the word edgy.

I'm afraid my fur vest is unironic here, since it is entirely possible to see a man at the grocery store wearing a dead wolf hat, face and all, on his head. That's probably why my husband sees my F21 furry vest as a bit silly.

I asked yesterday and his answer was ". I already told you that I do like your fur vest."

Mine just shook his head and went "Urgh, no, no, no, no, no"! Not that he would ever forbid me from wearing fur or anything, but just would never like it.

For a segment of the population who can remember the 1960's and 1970's clearly, furry vests will always mean one thing: Sonny Bono.

A big fat no for me. My husband likes a very classic look and anything edgy always makes him pause. Fur is too much for him.

I can't wait to wear the halogen faux fur blazer for my hubby. He hasn't seen it yet. He loves that retro bombshell look.

Alicat: re. Sonny and Cher photo: BWAHAHAHAHAHAAA!

That about sums up how I feel about fur.

Shannon - that's exactly what my husband said - it's a Simpson's episode where Mr. Burns makes a vest out of Gorilla. It's FUNNY!!! Only Simpson's fans would understand!!

Well, for a while it was close, but it looks like the haters have it. Dang - guess the Man Repeller was right!

My hubby really likes my faux fur vest, largely because of the 70s vibe.

The 70s were, like, his heyday.

Shannon, that made me laugh so hard! Darn it, now I'll be singing that when I wear my vest.

Was shopping with bf yesterday. His response to the faux fur gilet that caught my eye was 1) hilarity, 2) more hilarity at the thought of anyone wearing such a thing on the street, and 3) even more hilarity at the thought of me being hunted down by PETA.

Ahem. Yes, I would say faux fur is not even in the realm of possibility in his book. LOL.

When I asked my other half his opinion, he replied with a question of his own: why would you skin a Muppet?

Pretty sure that's a Nay.

Hmm, I haven't asked my DH, but he LOVES the fur lined white bomber hat I got last year. He has one too, but much more "manly". We are from the burbs, but moved to the country about 5 years ago and get giggles out of the "rustic" stuff people wear. We don't hunt and would never wear real fur (creeps me out). Anyway, he enjoys "snowbunny" types of looks like the bomber hat and he likes edgy stuff and somewhat glam stuff. Faux fur falls into all those categories, IMO, so I think he would like it.

Hehe. Actually, Alicat, my mom (who liked the vest on me) actually said the same thing - "And if you ever need a Sonny Bono costume, you're set!"

And then there's the classic Golden Girls moment: Sophia and Dorothy as Sonny and Cher!

Ah Alicat, you nailed it with the Sonny Bono reference!

When I started hunting for the perfect (and thus far, perfectly elusive) faux fur vest, my husband was mainly bemused that any sane woman would want to wear something that looked like she'd skinned a bear.

That would be a nay.

Well I haven't explicitly asked but I am fairly sure it's a "Nay" from my husband. I will ask tonight!
