Poll - how many pairs of sandals do you own?

I have come to realization to my sandal collection needs serious augmentation. I only have two pairs ( Clarks Smooch and CK Cedar City - which need mending) that I can comfortably wear. I do own many more, but they are mostly of the 2 h shoe type ( e.g. 4" wedges) or wedding type ( strappy metallic stilletos) so they can not really be worn comfortably and I can not rely on them. I used to think, that since I can not wear them at work, I do not need that many, but with 6 months of sandals worthy weather here, I have realized my mistake when I keep putting on my Smooches time after time. Now I need to figure out how many more and what type do I need.

So I would be curious to know how many do you own ( and what type they are), as well as how many months a year you can typically wear them in your climate and are you allowed to wear them at work.

I have 5 pairs:

Clarks Lyon: I'm in love with these. They are probably the comfiest sandals I own. These are 8 hour shoes and more. Would not recommend them for the narrow-footed though.

Biowfish Courtesy: Another pair of 8 hour + sandals. Love them. They are my only heeled sandals. The adjustable straps make them work for me.

Clarks Smooch: I'm not as enthusiastic about these. I wore them today and they cut the back of my right heel badly I remember in the beginning I was afraid they might come up too high in the back, but it's weird. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Maybe I wore the straps too tight. They also run narrower than I would prefer. Overall they are just okay. I know others find them very comfortable but they are only okay on me. I still love them though, and some days they bother me less than others.

Clarks Brulee: I share the same enthusiasm for these as everyone else on the forum. Definite 8 hour sandals.

Rampage Gabriella: These are my novelty sandals. They are surprisingly not that bad. Definitely not 8 hour shoes, but good enough for wearing to work. Had to poke a few extra holes and pad the straps up though.

I have three now after I bought Born thong sandals at NAS last week:
- platinum croc strappy sandals
- white sandals
-yellow Born thong sandals
I do wear them to work.
I also wear flats in summer so it really fills my needs. But...if I see another pair which is flattering and comfy I do not answer for myself

I can wear sandals to work. I have 4 pairs that I can comfortably wear all day: Brulees, Smooches, white naturalizers and black Dansko wedges. I also have a pair of more rugged thong sandals that I use for more casual activities.
Our sandal weather is about 3 months, so it's not a fair comparison, but you can plug it into your equation

Thank you for your responses so far! It seems that I should probably get 2-3 more, which make sense ( I do not like to wear the same shoe for 2 days in a row, the same as with a bra; I know I am strange).

Angie, my completely arbitrary definition is that a sling back wedge is sandal if it has open toes and not if it is closed. I am sure many others will differ on that

I probably have too many pairs of sandals for my climate! I have pewter Brulees, cognac Dansko wedges/clog sandals, champagne Me Too leather thongs, red leather cork wedges, and a couple of pairs of Chacos (which are gear and are used as such). I also have 2 prs rubber flip flops that are house/yard shoes only.

Hmm, that's not as bad as I thought. Only 4 pairs for style purposes, and only 2 that I wear regularly (the Brulees and the Danskos). I could use a better fitting pair of leather thong sandals.

I want a pair of those Lyons that you have, Maya. My Brulees may not make it another summer.

I want a pair of Brulees so bad, but couldn't find them anywhere I missed out on them last summer since I was focused on more serious things in life. I wonder if Clark's outlets carry last years models, that might be my only chance...

I have sofft rori sandals (tan leather, gladiator-ish) that I wear ALL THE TIME. My others are all pre-YLF: rainbow brand flip flops that I throw on to get the mail or take out the trash, cheap old navy plastic flip flops that I wear for swimming, and teva water shoes that very clearly gear and only used as gear (they don't get much wear in Tucson )

I have no problem with wearing the same shoe 2 days in a row, or for months in a row, but maybe that's just me. Whenever I have duplicates I end up choosing a favorite and neglecting the other(s), so getting another brown/tan sandal seems unnecessary. I'm the same way with my boots: I have one pair that I ADORE and wear all winter long!

I have a lot of sandals, but I wear them everyday from mid-May to end of September.

I have 5 pairs of 2-3 inch wedges, in shiny bronze, a darker, muted bronze, black, flesh-tone, and navy. Three pairs of strappy flat sandals in green, coral, and yellow. About 4-5 pair of thong-style sandals, but I rarely wear them anymore because I've decided that all thongs (leather and "nice") look and feel sloppy to me. Two pairs of low-heeled, open-toed mules in green and turquoise. And two pairs of dressy, high-heeled strappy sandals, in black and silver.

I recently purged down to four pair-
a B.O.C. leather thong with flowers on it in pearly champagne, a Sofft studded leather thong in black, a St. John's Bay dark brown sandal, and my favorite Off The Beaten Track Windsor gladiator in a caramel brown. I would love to have more, since I really can wear sandals about 6 months out of the year- but the comfort factor eludes me.

Sandal wearing weather in London can run from the end of May through to mid-September, but throughout this period there are plenty of days not suitable for sandal wearing because it is either cold or rainy or both!

I have 5 pairs (pewter, brown, grey, pink and black & brown) and probably need to add one more pair to that collection. I happily commute to work (which involves at least 30 minutes of walking) in all but one of these.

Hmm Fi, I'm currently jealous of the London weather, Edinburgh's weather is even more unpredictable, in fact if you don't like the weather you can just wait five minutes and it is likely to be different. I have two pairs of dress sandals and find it to be enough.

I have...

-bronze BOC strappy flats
-silver-gold Seychelles flats
-black Alfani flats
-black OBT ankle-gladiator flats
-black Clarks beaded "hippie" flats that I wear maybe once a season but they are perfect when I do
-sand Clarks Laguna Reefs wedges
-tan Naturalizer 2-inch platform "flats" slip-ons
-hot pink Clarks thong "flip flop"s for yoga and long casual treks

I usually acquire 2-3 new sandals each year, and some do last through the next season. This year I added 5, and the two new black ones (the OBT and the Alfanis) are my least favorites of the bunch. The Laguna Reefs are getting worn nearly every other day.

Don't you love when Kristen itemizes her footwear? It's almost as good as getting a peek into Angie's handbag collection... Now I'm waiting for Taylor to do the same, but it may take her a while, hee hee.

Tanya -- what size and color Brulees? I'll keep my eyes open for you.

Before last summer, I had 0 pairs of sandals.

Now:
Brulees (pewter)
Kenneth Cole Cedar City wedges (2 pair, silver and bronze)
Born flower thong sandals (silver)

I have a pair of Smooches on order (Champagne).

And Maya has made me think I need the Lyons as well. I can justify this since I "need" footwear that stays at SO's house.

If I'm not allowed to count Birkies and thongs, then my sandals are:

1) Aldo gladiator sandals - LOVE them to death. My purchase of the season last summer.
2) Clarks brulees - like them, but a bit too dressy for my everyday wear
3) Brown leather sandals from Vietrnam
4) Silver flat sandals from Vietnam

I'm not counting the KC Cedar Cities because for me these are going out, extremely high strappy shoes!!!

Wow considering I live in sandals for 6-8 months of the year I really should look at getting more shouldn't I? Maybe I should abandon my OTK fantasies and concentrate here instead!!

I've been avoiding this thread. First, let me say I wear sandals and only sandals from May to Sept inclusive. So 16 pairs I wear regularly, comfy.And 10 more dressier, slightly less comfy. I am building a shrine.

I have only 2 pair right now- Clarks and Beautifeel brands. The Beautifeel ones have an incredible amount of padding.....my favorite *ever* was a pair of SAS that they discontinued the style on-sob!

I can wear sandals 4-6 months out of the year and I can wear them to work.

Some are older so I do not know the style names but here we go:

1-Clarks Laguna Jewel in purple patent
2-Clarks Laguna Cove in tan
3-Cole Haan Air Whitney flat sandal
4-Cole Haan Red with white trim open toe flat with no heel at all
5-Cole Haan Black slingback sandal
6-Sofft Cream Sandal
7-Naturalizer Silver stappy sandal for occasions
8-BCBG Green and Silver sandal that comes out twice a year due to high heel
9-Gucci Tan slingback
10-Cole Haan flip flops in gold

Off the top of my head that's what I can recall. And yes, I am incapable of walking past a Cole Haan store without buying a pair of shoes. I need help.

Edit-I also do not wear the same shoe two days in a row.

I wear sandals for about 5 months and have far too many. The ones that see the most wear for going out of the house are :
KC Cedar City wedges in pewter from last year
Aerosole gold strappy wedges, Marshalls last year
Born Marguerite's from the YLF store in silver
Franco Sarto brown wedges, thrifted
Aerosole light grey patent wedges, DSW
2 pair of strappy black low heeled sandals, one with chunky heel, one more delicate, thrifted
2 pair low heeled nude/tan strappy, thrifted

I also have some tan flat SAS and Merrells that get worn mostly at home and some gear type for walking. I've got 3 pair of mule-type wedges that I seldom wear anymore even though they are very comfortable. They look heavy to me now.

Before last week I had three; now i have four. Well, six, if you count two pairs of flip-flops. After summer before last I had to retire most of my summer shoes, and I have never really gotten back to where I wanted with them. Really, it's enough pairs given our summer isn't super-long or hot, but I do wear them each frequently during the summer.
1 Aerosoles strappy brown with a wedge heel
1 Aerosoles black slides
1 BOC black strappy flats
1 BOC ecru strappy flats which are new
1 pink DKNY flip-flops
1 black cheapie flip-flops for wearing around the house or whatever

I really want to get a pair of Tevas again, like I had years ago, with the adjustable velcro strap, but all the ones I'm seeing in the stores are slide-on.

Our Summers are very short, so not much time to wear sandals at all.
I have three pairs:
- yellow Fly London wedges you saw in my white jeans post
- flat jade green Clarks with floral detail
- CK Cedar City in pewter

I vote get a few more pairs now that you live in a warmer climate Tanya. You can't go wrong with a wedge heel right?-)

Based on complicated statistical formula, I have concluded that for my situation 5-7 pairs is about right.

April, you are a sweetheart! I don't know what I wouldn't do for a pair of Brulees! I need size 8, ideally in pewter, but would be interested in other colors too.

Our summers are fairly short like Inge. It's the middle of summer here in the UK and I've been in ballet flats all week!
I have 5 pairs
White strappy wedge sandals with 1 inch heel cheapo primark ones but leather and very comfy
Flat pewter gladiator style
Flat tan thong snadals
Tan 1 1/2 inch heel kinda like summer shoes though peep toe and closed heel but open along the sides
2 inch pink wedge strappy sandal not worn much because of the height more a going out shoe.

Do clogs count as I have 1 pair of those
Oh and a metallic really high strappy platform pair definately sitting shoes so don't count right x

I have one pair and they're gear, some tevas that I wear around the house. I would really like a pair of dress sandals. I'm in the North so sandals would be about 4-5 months out of the year.

Heeled/Wedges - I quit counting at 11.

I have too many pairs of flip flops to bother with counting. I lived in them before coming to YLF. I've only worn them to the beach this summer.
