Polka dot Dress in pictures - YouLookFab Forum

Some of you may remember that I acquired a polka dot dress at the same time as my awesome new lace top on the weekend:

Pics were requested, and who was I to decline? Below is the dress on its own with booties as well as with a denim jacket worn over it. I want to see if it can be dressed down some. The fabric isn't natural fibre, but it feels wonderfully silky and comfortable and lends itself well to being dressed up. Is the skirt too long to work with booties?
Obviously when I wear this out I will wear jewelry and liberal dashes of red through my bag and lips and even wintertime coat. I have a turquoise blazer I'd love to wear with this too, but it may be too long.
Let me know how this works. And the tag is still on, so you can still tell me I screwed up and must return it if need be.

Michelle- I have to say on it's own I"m not loving this on you. I don't care for the lack of structure that the style of this dress offers... or I guess doesn't offer. Also, the sleeves fit you quite differently than on the model. On her they are much looser, which I think is a better look.
Obviously, the jackets adds structure that the dress is missing. I really like it with the turquoise blazer.. much more smart looking.

Michelle, I see what QueenMum is saying about the sleeves. They do seem to fit you differently than the model. Are they all the way pulled down? Where they end on you is more like a cap sleeve; on the model they are a longer short sleeve with shirring or ruching along the top.

How odd! I wonder if Corey's picture cut them off? On me the sleeve ends maybe an inch and a half above the elbow with the ruching going down from the shoulder. They're definitely not a cap sleeve, so something didn't photograph right. Asfor the tightness, I can't feel it but will have to defer to you guys.
Kim, I really appreciate your honesty and thank you for speaking up. This is precisely why I post here. This won't help at all, but the pic with the turquoise jacket is worn over a different dress. I just posted the jacket so people could see that it's likely too long for this silhouette.

Oh, I actually wondered if it was the same dress.
In your picture, the sleeve ends about half way down your upper arm.
If I had to vote based on these pictures, I would vote return. I've seen you in much better.

Michelle, I'm with Kim here. To my eye, the empire waist and boob situation is off - as it is on so many of us. I can't wear this style at all, and I've seen you in many more flattering cuts.

Hmmm. Is the dress fabric woven or knitted? Kim and Angie are finally getting through to me how much more forgiving wovens are. I think I've bought my last knit dress. (Unless a silk DVF wrap dress in my most perfect colors winds up at my local Goodwill, heh-heh).

It looks okay to me, but like the others I'm thinking you can do better. If those sleeves are going to ride up on you then they are not as flattering as they should be. Maybe you should return this and try something else. I think outfit #3 is lovely - the jacket length looks fine to me and the colour is wonderful.

Michelle, I am with others: we have seen much better dresses on you, this one does not do you justice. I would suggest to return it if you can.

Hi Michelle, I do like the comination with the demin jacket but I do agree with the others that on it's own its a little blah. I feel it's not up to your usual stylish standard. I think the darkness of the dress does little to highlight your beautful features.
