Poison eye shift

I have a poison eye for Liberty print small ditzy florals. But then I saw this and it somehow passes my style filter. Does this ever happen to you?

I do like that print, although not the jumpsuit. What I need to remember all the time is the difference between what I LIKE and what I'll actually wear. For instance, I found a j. crew shirt in a similar floral print that I loved at the thrift store, but left it alone because I somehow knew I'd never actually wear it.

Somehow I never develop a poison eye, only lose it. That's not helpful!

I love liberty florals, but my poison eye for jumpsuits is so strong I think I just broke something on my face. You are MUCH more progressive sartorially than I am, for sure!

Yes, I've had this happen a few times too:-) Usually when a print that I'm normally not super fond of appears in a colour combination that I really love. (e.g. I recently bought a mint green and blush coloured paisley print scarf).

Go try on the jumpsuit in a store if you can, Anna.

Isabel Marant could make anything look good! I like that fabric also and little florals aren't my thing. Nice colors. Jumpsuit, not so much.

I agree with IK! Love the floral, the jumpsuit not so much. But I think you might be able to make it work.

I used to have a poisoned eye for denim jackets, and we know how that went. I think sometimes it just takes a long time to encounter the right combo of design elements, either because something else is popular or because we are super picky.

I actually stay far, far away from liberty prints myself, but I agree with you that these coveralls are pretty cool. I'm seeing the hems pegged and rolled up over combat boots, hair in a messy ponytail, and maybe a black or gunmetal chunky chain necklace. I could see the black violet bag working here, too.

Ditsy florals don't do it for me, but I love a lot of the more Art Nouveau-ish prints from Liberty.

That particular item looks a bit too PJ-ish for me -- I think it's the combination of the print and the jumpsuit. It's just a LOT of that print.

I know what you mean though -- I have definitely had times when an item attracted me, when in theory I should hate it!

I used to love prints like that but then I saw a picture of myself in one and it was way too "Little House on the Prairie" on me. I looked like I had just hitched up my covered wagon, lol! But who knows Anna, we will probably all be wearing them in a few years if they are "new" again, lol!

I like this print. But then, I don't have a poison eye for such things, unless the wrong person is wearing them. Or the wrong house. If you know what I mean.

On you, Anna? I could be great.

But. I have a poison eye for jumpsuits.

As for shifts in poison eye. Yes. Definitely. I often have a poison eye for new trends but then my eye adjusts and I start liking them. For me, booties were a look I had to adjust to, mainly because they are difficult for me to wear successfully, personally. I STILL dislike some, on certain people. But love others.

wow, that is quite a jumpsuit. I do like the floral, and I find I like about 10% of the LIberty florals. I think it's just one of those things that are irrationally very personal - you like them or you don't.

I originally had a poison eye for skinny jeans (and boot cut jeans way back when) but my eye finally adjusted. I currently have a poison eye for dress blouses with bows you tie at the neck. I don't see myself ever getting over that though.

Yow, Anna, what a jumpsuit! I love liberty florals but it's rare to see one in such a sophisticated colour scheme.....usually the colour schemes are beautiful but not very edgy. That print would be amazing on you with your colouring, really bring out your eyes. Ah, that's exactly the type of piece i'd wear if i was younger, with money, and had your figure (all those legs)!

I don't have a poison eye for jumpsuits, more of a poison bladder if ya know what i mean - i like to stay well hydrated!

But seriously if i have a poison eye for something it tends to stay poison.

I love jumpsuits :). I like it, Anna.

I have a poisoned eye for a few looks that I don't think look good on anyone no matter how hard I try to change my thinking (models, actors, street life included) - and my thoughts on these looks have been there forever - and are to this day unchanged. I can boil that down to about two or three looks.

I also have looks that I think are *extremely* hard to pull off, but not impossible. My eye is not poisoned to these looks at all, but I am extra picky about when I feel they look fab.

So opinionated this morning :(. I think I need some tea.

Claire, that is why *I* avoid these prints, too! Except (not to be offensive) I kinda look like I was dragged away from a Native American family and put up in a Christian boarding school somewhere. Again, NOT a judgement on either faction; I just look like those girls in the history book photos. :T

That IS a great jumpsuit; transforms that print. Ya, I know what you mean, Anna. As Claire says, on me, Liberty-type prints go awful prairie-house or dowdy Margaret Thatcher (and if you thought Margaret was already dowdy...).

Anna, if anyone can pull this off, it is you. I doubt I will ever buy/wear a jumpsuit again; my bladder isn't strong enough. I'll never forget when I wore one -- with buttons at the wrists no less -- to the symphony. Was very self-conscious due to the long lines to and in the Ladies Room. Overalls are another thing that is tricky bathroom-wise. . .

I do find that my eye changes quite a bit all the time! I think it's a good thing, definitely. Sometimes you see a garment that manages to integrate wildly different things (jumpsuit + Liberty floral, e.g.) and it just speaks to you :).

i have gotten over my poison eye for rompers...but not jumpsuits. and for heaven sakes, ditsy prints make my skin burn into flames. still not wearing ankle booties--this is imprinted into my dna.

Yup they look a bit like pj's but I'm guessing that is the appeal? Pyjama prints are finally having there moment after loitering on the fringe for what feels like ages. I love this jacket and would consider the trousers
