pointy toed shoes for wide feet

I have wide and fussy feet, what does one do with the pointy toe trend, are round toe pumps completely dated?
Any others with this issue?

Jean, have you tried any of the new styles on? I ask because my perception is that many of them are cut a bit differently from pointed toe shoes in the past. I may be wrong, but many seem to be wider in the toe box with a more subtle and graduated point. So they might be more wearable than older versions. Also, lower heels help because the toes are not squished forward.

If you're interested in pointy toe flats, try JJill. Their d'orsay flats have a great width on the toe box.

I'm looking for pointy toes like those I have on an older pair that are normal width at the toes, then start tapering in the make the point. They can either be quite long because of this or taper quickly to a wider point. I like the latter best because I tend to trip on the really long toes.

Well, I have the opposite problem, since my feet are narrow, but here are some pointy flats that were way too wide for me, so maybe they'd work for you.

Yes, it's the latter ones I'm talking about, Joy. I have 3 pair of pointy toed shoes (new) and all are like that. I also have an almond toe that is almost a pointed toe with a similar shape. The toe box is a normal width. The almond toed ones are all-day shoes for me -- I wore them tromping around London last year for a full week, actually. Two of the new pointed toes are almost as comfortable as that. One of the pointy toes is less comfortable, but it is a dressier shoe and the reason it's not as good is more the footbed -- no padding in it. Plus a narrow heel vs. a chunkier one.

Suz, yes I did try on a pair and they were fine for a bit but I knew they would start to rub.
I am looking for a low heel pump for dress or just to wear with boyfriend jeans to add structure to my slouchy looks.
Something super comfortable because, I will not wear it if it is not an all day shoe.
Not looking for a dorsay (is that what they are called?)although they are cute.

Sveta tried them and they did not work for her, alas. And a few others have also found them not quite right. But some have been literally WOWed by them. So worth a shot? They come in a ton of colours, too.

Oh - and also try the Okalas.

I got these and love them. I will need to wear them around the house once to stretch them a bit at the top of the forefoot, but once that is done, they're going to be all day walkers. The ankle strap gives them stability.

The Okalas are close, but for a wide foot they would take some major breaking in. I fell for them and ordered them, and while I might've been able to get them to stretch enough, I was doubtful enough that I returned them. D'orsay styles, while I just adore them, are the worst for a wide foot. There's nothing worse than your foot being wider than the sole of your shoe and being exposed for the whole world to see!

So I am a total spanner because I have no suggestions. Pointy toes are just plain difficult to wear for a wider foot. FWIW, I've always favoured rounded toes on pumps, both for comfort and for looks, and an almond toe is a perennial classic. Pointy toes, especially when they get "witchy", can look severe and aging on me.

I have a wide foot, too. I size up a half-size and use a ball of foot insole to keep my toes from slipping forward and add a bit of cushioning. I have pointy toes from DSW. I do find that mass market shoes tend to be a bit wider in general when compared to high end lines.

Maybe try some of the Anne or Calvin Klien lines .I'm tryng the CK Diema in Dk blue suede and hoping that I can stretch them a scootch in the big toe area .Fingers(or toes!) crossed!

I have the same problem! however the anne klein isana kitten heels which have a nicely pointed toe fit perfectly. they are available at zappos. Worth a try for sure.

Round toes aren't dated. Just not on trend. Try almond toes for wider feet.

Those look great but not coming in wide widths is a concern.
I have resorted to only buying wide width shoes but perhaps that is not a good solution.
Maybe I will give those a whirl.

Good to know Angie, hard to resist such a great trend but may have to.

I agree with Angie. I have wide feet and have lots of almond toed shoes which accommodate my (fan shaped) feet with out sacrificing comfort or style. I do find that pointed toe flats work very well if you go up 1/2 a size if needed.

Jean, I SO feel your pain!
Have you tried these Trotters? Unfortunately they did not work out for me even in WW but if I could size up for 1/2 size they may have worked. In any case they were much better for my wide toe box that Wow pumps Suz mentioned.
