Pointed slingback flats

I got a catalog from Boden the other day, and I noticed that they had a lot of slingback flats, some of which were very cute with polka dots. Generally, I have a hard time with flats because they slip off my heel. Does anyone know whether slingback flats are helpful for this problem? It would seem that if you could adjust the back strap, maybe that would keep the heel in.

Also, what opinions do you have about fashion forwardness? Do you think that the slingback flats look just as good as regular pointy-toed flats?

If you can adjust the strap at the back it can be very helpful for those of us who have narrow heels. I wear them all the time.

I used to like slingbacks for the adjustability but i did find that when wearing long trousers they catch between the foot and shoe. Great for skirts and cropped pants!

But, with the caveat -- sometimes, for whatever reason, it just doesn't work. I don't know why, but a few pairs of sling backs I've had, even when I had extra holes punched, just wouldn't stay on. (I have narrow heels, too, as you can probably guess or I have probably complained, ad nauseum.)

Anyway...I think if you can order and return at no cost it is worth checking out because sometimes they work really well. And as long as you are not going to wear them with long pants (as per Sarah's comment; I agree with her, as well) then you have a fun way to wear a low vamp shoe.

I have just gotten rid of a pair like these:). I loved them and found them easy and comfy to wear. I find this style to be quite classic and timeless. It's also a very feminine style.

I love sling back shoes. I have very small feet (2.5 /35 UK) and have difficulty in finding this size. (Teenagers have large feet!)

As a result I buy a size 3 /36 in a slingback and adjust the back strap. Find them very comfortable and have no problem in keeping them on my feet, even with trousers!

Read somewhere that slingbacks are more "youthful" . Every little helps!!

Gigi - I think this style is brilliant!! I have narrow heels and always prefer a slingback to a pump. Elegant and versatile!! Big thumbs up from me!

PJ, nice shoes! I hope they work out for you. I think those would be considered an ankle strap shoe rather than a slingback. I thought about getting an ankle strap flat, since I know those would stay on, but I am quite short and I think that the flat heel plus the ankle strap would do me in height-wise. :^)

I saw these, too, and they are really cute. I don't have slingback flats, but I have a number of slingback kitten heels and I like them very much for style, walk ability and comfort. Just knowing that strap has some give and adjustment seems to help.

Today the sandals arrived. As much as I want to love them, they just didn't feel comfortable at all as I have predicted. The straps around the ankles make them very hard to walk in. I don't think I can even walk 5 minutes in these shoes:(

Gigi, I just saw a gorgeous pair of silver pointed toe sling backs in one of our trendy teen storses:) The heel was maybe 3 cm and it was a stacked and slightly rounded heel.... now you have me wanting a pair.. might have to go back:)
