Hey everyone--I did the post about classic style and what's your style word? Just wanted to update you that I am indeed going through the websites and articles mentioned, like Stunning Style and Angie's blog. I enjoy the more updated, carefree look of these styles.

I was just thinking, has anyone gone anywhere with just their pockets, and no purse? I have not since high school, or something. Only if I give a wallet to my date or something, for him to hold in his jacket.

I think this could be a new trend. Not just putting a few essentials in our coat pocket, but even in summer, squishing them into our back jeans pocket. We've adopted other menswear trends--I think this could be another one.

I LOVE skirts, dresses, and pants with pockets but must admit I use them for my hands and not for my stuff. That I keep in a crossbody bag.

All the time when I am on foot & don’t need my car keys. Phone in one pocket house keys in the other & I’m off. Apple Pay & Apple wallet especially make this easy(I’m sure there is something similar on the android phones)

I think the only time I don’t have some sort of bag is when we go on our daily walks in the near neighborhoods or a park. I don’t have a big phone and my wallet is a card holder type but I don’t like carrying things in my pockets.

I love that some of you do this. I admit the idea excites me, since I haven't done it in years. Maybe just for very short outings. Because it's hard for me to imagine walking around without my purse things (chap stick, kleenex, etc.) all day.

I dislike carrying a bag everywhere so recently downsized to a small sling bag for every day and a belt bag for walks/hikes. Both hold my phone, lip sunscreen, keys, tissue and a tiny wallet. The sling can also hold a water bottle. I'm not sure I'm ready to give up all bags and use my back pockets. I'll probably skip that trend.

I've carried a bag for so long that whenever I find myself in public without one, I have my heart leap into my throat, sure that I've lost it somewhere. Even if I KNOW I didn't bring one, that panic will hit me every single time I notice I don't have a bag. So I've given up. I always carry a purse, a tote, or on rare occasion a crossbody (for fairs and the like). Pockets alone won't work for me (plus pockets on most women's clothing are tiny and non-functional, anyway).

To clarify , I don’t leave the house like that for an entire day - just for short errands or walks outside . But I easily manage the grocery store without my purse .

I’m like Echo, I’m so accustomed to carrying some type of bag, I’m not sure I’d feel okay without one. I also don’t like putting phones in my pockets because it feels like it could fall out and I often like to put my hands in my pockets too.

Small bag all the time - with light weight fabric bag inside ( just in case ). My phone is a bit bigger now - not comfortable in the pocket.

For walks around the neighbourhood, sure! But even then, it's a bit of an issue because of the kleenex, as you point out. And the water bottle. So bags are useful. I use a backpack a lot. A fashion type one.

A lot. I have a card case for my ID and credit cards and just slip that into a pocket with my keys in my other pocket.

I quite like a small crossbody tech bag for short errands and walking. Just big enough for my phone and wallet. They are very lightweight. I have 2 and find them very useful.

No, I always have a bag. For walks, a small crossbody. I enjoy bags as accessories and don’t mind having one. However, I tolerate carrying heavy bags much less now, so I have started carrying lightweight textile bags when I am on foot a lot. So far, using just pockets has not been an option.

I put a sticky rubber envelope that holds a credit card and my ID on the back of my phone, for pocket cramming. Still need a big pocket!
But it lets me stash the cross body under a car seat and take off into a store or take the dogs for a short excursion.
Amazon has a selection. For the fashion win, colour block or coordinate with the phone cover.

I should have added a couple of things
Most of my coats are made by gear/technical brands and so have secured inter pockets and/or secure outer pockets. Many of my pants, skorts and shorts also have zippered or deep pockets that are actually designed to hold stuff. So what I’m wearing that day also has am impact on whether or not I’m going to be hands free

I can empathize with your excitement about pockets and only using the back pocket of jeans or pants. I used to do this a lot in uni. I would only take my driver's licence, cash, and a debit or credit card to go to the pub or club. Purses were a pain with a high probability to leave them behind/lose. Plus, putting them on a sticky table was a turnoff and dancing with them was annoying!

These days, yes I will use pockets to go for a walk. I only bring my phone and keys. Yesterday, I wore a dress with pockets and had a small purse. I put my car keys in my pocket just because it was easier. One couldn't tell because the skirt was full.

I always carry not one but two bags.. a small cross body and a large tote. My area requires that one bring their own bags for purchases so no room in pockets. My small bag contains my phone ( large I-phone that does not stay securely in pockets), a glucose meter and billfold, tissues and snack items, sometimes insulin and pills and blood meter, tiny makeup touch up bag. My large bag contains extra bags for purchases, masks ( yes, I still wear them for safety and am one of many wearing them. ). Extra tissues and papers I may need. I also need keys, a comb, shoe hornand a pen and small notebook. The bag is usually light weight. I don’t have enough pockets or big enough ones for all I need.

I don’t love carrying things in my pockets unless it’s a big roomy pocket in a utilitarian or gear type jacket. Plus, I wear glasses including prescription sunglasses, so if I’m going anywhere that will require me to change glasses, I’m stuck with a bag of some sort.

That said, I go to a lot of concerts with just my car key, ID/credit card, and a lipstick in a pocket, plus phone, which is the big item. Usually I try to wear a topper with a pocket for it, or jeans with a decent back pocket (although that’s not really a cute look on a 50-something mom bod, I’m sure). But last year I bought a little MZ Wallace crossbody bag that fits phone and basic essentials and gets into any venue without needing to check it (more and more common these days). It’s smaller in reality than it looks in this photo! It’s now my go-to for baseball games too, since Camden Yards now has a strict bag policy.

I prefer not to use my pockets for stuff. I am usually carrying at least my phone and it is too heavy to be comfortable in a pocket.

I recently got a phone case that is also my wallet and quite like it. It is very handy to have everything I need in one item and came with a crossbody strap so I can carry it hands free. Of course the danger is if I lose it, I lose everything, so I hang on to it pretty tightly. I do usually carry a small bag though, when I am out for a day. I need chapstick and stuff like that as well as my phone/wallet.
