PNW Wedding Guest in May

We will be attending a wedding in May in Portland. Even without knowing any particulars, I went ahead and ordered a dress. I figured if the wedding is on the casual side, I already have a few possibilities, mostly Eileen Fisher dresses.

I’m thinking I might need a jacket. The only thing I’ve thought of is a linen jacket. Would this one be too casual for the dress?

Not that I’m a wedding expert , but the jacket strikes me as too casual unless it’s held outdoors . I’d choose a wrap of some sort - a fine gauge knit / pashmina thing or an oversize silk scarf .

That's a pretty dress that will suit you JAileen. I agree with Lisa that the jacket is a bit casual to match in with the dress. I think a wrap would look best with this style of dress. Or a coat if you knew you would be mostly indoors and just needing the coat for some parts of the day.

I love the Komarov dress and it would be easy to dress up for the wedding or wear casually afterwards. I also like the linen jacket. The softness of the fabric and the fringed edges give it an easy elegance to my eye. If you have doubts about the jean jacket style maybe there's something else out there in linen, like a soft blazer, that might be dressier.

The dress is really pretty! I like the thought of it with the linen jacket but for wedding purposes, I too would go with some sort of shawl situation.

The dress is gorgeous. Nice find! I agree with others about the jacket, though it might work with one of your Eileen Fisher dresses for a more casual event. Maybe there is another event the weekend of the wedding that you'll want something less dressy than for the wedding itself.

I like the idea of a wrap with the dress for the wedding.

It depends where the wedding is to be held as to the topper. I do personally find the white jacket too casual combined with that dress, but say for a beach wedding like Aquamarine is attending it would possibly be suitable.
You “know” me, always err towards the dressier end.
I like the pashmina idea and also Sharan’s 2 jackets she offers above, especially the second one because I like contrast. Wraps can be a bit fussy, for my daughter’s Vietnam wedding in 2019 I pinned the wrap.

Pretty dress. Do you need a topper? For the venue or for arriving at the site? Because I think the dress, since it has sleeves, should be warm enough for an indoor location.

Jenni, the wedding I will be attending is indoors, in a hotel. You may be confusing me with someone else, who *was* attending a beach wedding.

I love the dress and I have a similar Tommy Bahama linen trucker that I wear on repeat during the spring/summer. It's a fab jacket but definitely too casual for that gorgeous dress!
