Sona, to my eye it's the yellow in the pendant that's causing this not to work. There is such a high contrast between it and the blue blouse as well as the plaid bag. So yes, I think it might be the color scheme.

But otherwise I think you look super cute!

You probably know I love teal so for me, the bag detracts from the teal which is so perfect on you. I think a bag in either a neutral or a color that is closer to the blues/greens would have worked. The outfit is great and you look fab.

I also think it's the bag that's detracting from your outfit. And the pendant, at least from what I can see, reads a bit juvenile. But if you take off those two things, it's a really cute outfit. Teal is beautiful on you!

I'm sorry for your blouse and your woes.
In this outfit, I think what happens is that you're having two focus points, they fight with each other: the bag and the pendant. Otherwise the shades of blue, teal and gray all work really well. And you are super cute, it's true!

You are too hard on yourself! Jeans, boots and bag are awesome! Pendant is distracting, but lovely. I feel like your jacket is too short for the blouse, making the floaty layers look "shelfy" Try blouse with a longer jacket or vest?

I think the outfit looks great on you! I agree with other comments that the pendant is fighting for attention. Remove that and you have a winner .

I agree with the others. The outfit itself looks really good to me, it's just the accessories are fighting each other. You are much too hard on yourself, not a fail by any means!

At the risk of being another echo, I love everything but the pendant and bag. I think you could do one or the other, but hothead compete and the eye focuses in on that.

I think it was Marilyn Monroe who would dress and then look in the mirror. Whatever accessory that caught her eye first, she took off. She wanted you to see her not the accessory.

I love the way the outfit looks in pic 2 so maybe it is the pendant that isn't working. I love everything else together with the plaid bag though!

Sona, take that teal top out of the garbage RIGHT NOW and wear it often!
A more structured jacket will give you a smoother line, and I agree with the others about the accessories.

Thanks ladies. Sorry Lyn D teal blouse was already donated- I wore this outfit just last night and if something I wear makes me 'feel' bad I am too fast to get rid of it! Sinead: the pendant is actually hand embroidered although on a large scale. I may need to use it as wall decor rather than jewelry. Thanks to all: the necklace does seem like the big clasher. Also thank you for pointing out structured jackets go better with flowy tops!

OMG quickly grab that gop out of the garbage - I love it on you. I think the problem is having 2 strong style statements competing with each other so it's either the pendant or the bag not both. By they way you still look beautiful.

yes, the teal blouse is actually quite pretty! Pity it's gone!
The pendant by itself is quite eye-catching, you should wear it on a more earth-toned or warm-coloured outfit. Same with the bag, the red plaid seems "warmer" than the cool-toned outfit.(i quite like the bag too

I like the pieces here, but not together. The teal top is a lovely color on you. I prefer tops such as these with a structured jacket, or a cropped cardigan so that you can see the "flowy" vibe of the top. The necklace is pretty, but I'd love to see it against some lace, or even a basic white t. And I like the plaid bag, but it looks like earth tones in it (at least on my screen). Maybe wearing the bag with greens or browns would work?
