Pleated skirts - YouLookFab Forum

I was so pleased when I found this new skirt in Maje photos 1 to 4 - it is a good fit and has some super colours in the check - khaki, dark blue, light toffee and blush pink. It works well with various jackets. It is midi length, and hard wearing uncrushable fabric.

I am on team wear, so I think the labels will be cut off shortly! But they are still on, so do say if you think it is a fail!

I have been looking for a replacement for my bottle green CM pleated skirt, which I have worn a lot and am nearing my boredom threshold. I have had it two years and worn it about once every other week. To give it a new lease of life, I bought a wild card bottle green jacket, which kind of works with it, but really I would like to wear a belt with it. I have taken the attached photo which is poor but may be you can let me know what you think.

Is there any hope for this jacket with belt?

Love that new pleated skirt and what a great pattern.lt seems to go with everything.You have such an tiny waist,belting it to show it off is definitely a good idea and that is a lovely belt.Any possibility of a full length photo to see how the belted jacket looks with the skirt?

Re #5: I suggest wearing the belt UNDER the (open) jacket.

By the way, I guess that the same belt would also look great under the jacket in #3.

I love the new skirt Jane - great pattern to make it versatile.

I think 5 has possibilities. You can wear this look but I probably need a longer pic to really tell. I think sometimes just putting something to rest for three months can help me like it again.

The belt works well. Make sure you are comfy when you sit down. Digging belts are a mare

Great skirt! I’d like to see the jacket with a thinner belt or with 2 thinner stacked belts. I’ve tried this with jackets and it’s a fun look as long as you are happy to keep the jacket on all day (because it’s hard to de-layer).

That’s awesome Jane, looks great. That was a fast Team Wear! Even quicker than my new puffer which took 3 days!
The beautiful new skirt looks kind of Burberry colours to me. I like the new jacket with the old skirt too. You must have well and truly passed 30 wears with that one. One thing with a smaller wardrobe, you probably may get bored sooner do you think?
I still want to reduce my numbers a bit more because seeing them hanging there for too many years is a bit boring as well x

Thank you The Cat. The colouring the new skirt is very subtle but good; it feels as if it can span seasons and as you say, it it is good with a few different coloured jackets.

Thank you CardiffGirl, one of my things I would love to find, is somewhere at home which remains relatively neat, with good lighting and is good for a full length photo. HEWP - p for place! The belt was from Uterque and I love it! It is good to be able to pattern mix with it - thank you The Cat for the suggestion of mixing the belt with the check - perfect! Yes, the belt looks better under the jacket on the skirt in 5. But I am going to have a play at the weekend and see if I can make it work.

Brooklyn, I will try thinner belts - the buttons got in the way when I tried the other evening, so it might be that I just need to live with it. The pfaff factor has crossed my mind. This jacket doesn't crease, it is a kind of jersey, which is helpful, but I would think that an option might be is to wear the belt under on the commute, then readjust when I arrive at the office.

Jenni, it so was a fast team wear! It feels like a Burberry check to me too. I think I will have well and truly passed the 30 wears. I wore it on a important day trip to Paris for work, which was fab, so it always has that memory with it. Yes, I think the boredom does set in on a smaller wardrobe in a shorter time.

Roxanna, thank you, yes Maje have some lovely clothes, quite often things that are a little bit different. They have a super dress with mock sleeves as a tie around the waist that really caught my eye too. This link might work. I tried to do a screen shot but it didn't work.

Thank you JAileen, now you have said it, I think it will be a workhorse. I am going to see if I can wear it casually too, although it feels a bit smart may be for that - but with a t and a denim jacket, it might work.

And I’ve today worn jacket with belt over. Not quite as smooth fitting as I would like but JFE I think.

Special thanks to LisaP on eyebrow (I have a lighter brow colour) and recommendation on lip liner and gloss - I’ve adopted the use of both and feel more polished.
