Please tell me this photo's been stretched

I know all advertising photos have been manipulated a ton, but does this Macy's ad look weird to anyone else?

I think it is s great pose, one hand on her high hip another hiding her low hip which makes her legs look endless, from the back view where the hips are visible her legs look more relative. I'm sure there has been tonnes of post production on the pic too.

She's also wearing 5" heels. She could be 6' tall, 6 1/2 feet in heels!

I think it's the cropped cardigan, in the images without the cardigan you get a better idea about where her legs start and then she looks pretty normal for a model in heels.

I agree with modgrl, she's totally wearing huge platform heels and I bet she's about 6 feet to begin with.

so actually, when I measured her on my screen, she was 4 inches tall. The half way point which should be the crotch point does hit right at the top of her thumb, which is the same as me. Also, her face (from crown to chin) measures 1/2 inch which is the correct 1/8 of the total height.
It could very well be the cropped cardi that is throwing it off.

I believe so. Check her out in this dress. She doesn't appear quite as tall.

Talk about an optical illusion? It does look like the cropped cardi, pose, dress and platform heels stretch her out. Love how Scarlet put it ~ un-anatomical. If all those could give me the illusion of legs like that, I'm buying the whole get-up.

What, it isn't natural to have one's legs take up over 75% of their body? Reminds me of that photo shoot during the petite season of America's Next Top Model when they had that one girl on stilts and her proportions just looked so off.

I'm still waiting for the petite/plus/over30 season of ANTM. I would be so fierce.

I asked my BF, a graphic designer and photoshop expert, and he pointed out that there's a tiny bit of drape to the fabric at her hip, but it doesn't start up again until (roughly) the knee. He agreed that she's probably wearing heels, but that this photo is also doctored. He does this sort of stuff for a living, so I trust him to spot a fake.

I would like to add that at 5'7" I have a hard time finding maxi dresses that are long enough. I doubt that this one is THAT long, lol!

I was curious and measured a photo of myself and while I am neither as tall nor as slim as this model, our shoulder-waist to waist-feet proportions are the same. Granted, I am very high waisted, but the point is that I don't actually think her proportions are totally out of whack. I think it's rather a combo of optical illusion from the outfit and some weird photoshopping around her rib cage in the photo w/ the bolero (the photo w/o the bolero looks more normal).

How fascinating!

I stumbled across the photo yesterday and just thought it looked so bizarre, like she was going to blow over at the slightest hint of a breeze. I know most models are indeed very tall and thin, but this just looked off.

Apparently I need to pick up some more cropped cardigans!

@modgirl - Really? I always think I look so stumpy in all my photos. I'm short, but not exactly petite in stature.

Not at home, so am unable to do any measuring or calculations, but last night at the theatre there was a beautiful woman (another audience member) who was so tall she barely fit under the frame of the door which my husband and I estimated was well over 7 feet high. She was very slender, immaculately groomed and stylishly dressed and about 90% legs!!! Well not really but she could have been the woman in this photo as her proportions were quite similar. So there are bodies that are quite different from mine...I have what my husband diplomatically calls "stubby" thighs. He says I am short but mighty. That's why I love him so!!!

Sheila, your comment made me laugh because I'm the same way!

I recently found out that one of the reasons my grandfather chose my grandmother to be his second wife after his frail first wife died was because he felt she appeared 'sturdy'.

Stubby describes my thighs too!
