Please talk me out of this dress!

I found a gorgeous Kate Spade dress on a resale site I like to browse and I really need some help talking myself out of it. I saw it a while back, then it disappeared and then reappeared. From the measurements given, it looks like it would fit me great, it looks like a great professional dress and it has polka dots. Unfortunately, It's really hard for me justify $90 for a dress right now. Of course, if one of y'all want to buy it and save me from myself, I'm ok with that.

Oh no. Are you looking for a dress at the moment to add to your closet? Would you wear it to work and do you have other places to wear it?
On the pro side this one could work for work but also for events which to me is always a plus. I mean like a wedding with red shoes etc.
But if you are covered in that area I think given you say it isn't currently in the budget it is best to admire from afar.

Two things to consider: if it disappears again, will you feel relieved? Or will you kick yourself that you missed the dress again? And... this isn't the last beautiful dress you will ever see. There will always be another glorious, fantastic dress waiting for you.

Okay, so helping talk you out of it:

#1 - no sleeves. This is usually a deal killer for me. Especially as I find it so hard to find the right jacket to match with a dress (need perfect length, color, neckline etc.)
#2 - Cost of the dress is only the begining. This is a high maintenance piece with the corresponding dry cleaning bill.
#3 - This dress begs for heels, and fussy feet do NOT do heels.

It is not so unique that you wouldn't find one again, maybe even cheaper. Did that help?

It does Elle. I've been looking for a nice polka dot dress for a while, but I need to remind myself that there will be more. And probably without ruffles.

Oh, since you mentioned the ruffles - I definitely think a version of this without ruffles would be better - especially if you are thinking of this as a work dress. Combining polka dots and ruffles is combining two girly (feminine + young) elements, which is tricky to pull off, especially in a professional context.

I love what La Belle said. We do tend to think of things as "once in a lifetime" opportunity and there is always something coming down the pipe.

Besides, you will look too good for this dress once you get your Botox ! LOL ! ( that was a very funny post )

Yes if you're not loving the ruffles I will add that I'm not a fan of them for me. I wasn't sure what your style was though.

I know the appeal of a polk a dot dress, still trying ot replace one myself, but I want somethng that I love and am not going to settle.. If ruffles aren't a 10 for you move on, the right one will come along...

I like the dress a lot, but wonder how the ruffly neckline would work with toppers. I have a really pretty Modcloth dress I don't wear much because details at the shoulder don't lay nicely under anything.

It's a good thing everyone chimed in before me....lots of good reasons to save your money. I loved the dress but when ruffles were mentioned as being problematic it makes sense to wait. Bravo for your discipline...you will be rewarded for your strength...kind of sounds like a fortune from a cookie!
