I'm glad to hear about that experience, Angie. It's so distressing to hear the reports of people behaving very badly. We need to hear that civilized behaviour is possible. Stay well, all.

Our grocery store chains are implementing some of the same measures you include here, Angie. One is even putting up plexiglass shields for the cashiers. I haven’t been out yet to see for myself. Think I’ll be avoiding Costco until they implement some similar measures.

A friend of mine in West Chester, PA just sent me a video of the grocery store. Nearly everything is cleaned out. Crazy. Here in MD this kind of sign is common. Stores have some things but have not restocked in others. Fresh produce easier to get than nonperishables.

Cindy, I hope you and everyone working in food supply are staying safe and well and getting rest.

It's getting tenser out there. Army guard vehicles now in downtown Chicago, Baltimore, and Philadelphia, seemingly preparing to back up police in case tensions rise in the streets. I was downtown yesterday and it was quiet, except for a lot of people out running, walking, and riding bikes in the parks.

Everyone, stay safe and well!

I think people here are hitting up Walmart and Costco first. I went to Walmart for my usual Friday shop at about 8:30 and lots of my regular stuff was gone - the canned goods and the dairy sections were decimated, and of course paper goods. And the fresh beef. But the Albertson's barely block down the road had nearly everything except, of course, toilet paper. It was a fascinating contrast.

It's getting harder for us to get enough of everything. Some of our orders are incomplete when they arrive, so we are starting to see shortages. My produce manager has done an absolutely amazing job of making sure we have as much as she can get her hands on, and we have cobbled together a mostly full produce department thanks to her efforts. Some of the vendors she is using also have other perishables (like eggs and such) and the store manager has her investigating options for other departments now, too.

Every employee got a bonus check today, which was nice. It doesn't change the fact that I'm burnt to a crisp physically and emotionally, but I have tomorrow off so I'll be sheltering in place with a book and some Netflix until sunday when I have to work again. Y'all stay safe!

our trader joes has limit of 2 on everything.

i went to quite a few stores today - cvs - they had lysol! yeah! a local market where i got meat to freeze (even though i dislike freezing meat - nows not the time to complain) and other food - they gave me a free roll of TP - went to heinens - no TP at all or paper towel - went to rite aid and got some surgical grade hand soap - it was the last one.

i went to giant eagle because they have a liquor store and dh needed bourbon. got six wines. lines were very slow moving.

trader joes was out of tea tree oil!!

people were kinda crazy nothing as extreme as i experienced on monday.

wishing you all good health.

@Cindy If you get any more toilet paper hoarders, you should redirect them to this handy website calculator to stop people from panic buying TP, lol:
