This was an eye-opener for me. We tend to think of the legacy of American style being more linear and stretchy sportswear/knits. Directly from Chanel's jerseys, I think. But here is another thread of American style : " She opened peoples minds to styles and textiles from across the globe and also provided beautiful casual wear that enhanced the leasure times of women." Designing before the 50's, it does seem like the birth of the 50's style.

(I've owned Bonnie Cashin storm coats before and those danged over-clever metal frame changepurse pockets pull away from the fabric And my husband would wince at them - some of those storm coats look like nothing more than Carhartt "dresses")

I was excited to see a clothing company using a non-standard model. They don't promote her as plus sized model, although at size 12 she is considered plus size by the fashion industry. I personally thought she was beautiful!

I also thought the swimsuit model was gorgeous. Was surprised myself to pass a plus size store in the mall that emblazoned its size range on its marquee and it began with 12. I can see size 12 used for plus size modeling in the past because people always complained that the clothing was not shown on realistically plus sized models. But in retail? And why I question it is that plus size clothing is typically cut to different templates - such as deeper and wider armscyes. What sense does this make for a 12?

OK, so I've got another one:
I've been fascinated and amused by this ongoing photo series by Hana Pesut where couples are photographed in their own clothes and then after switching outfits. Sometimes it's ridiculous, and sometimes the outfits work surprisingly well.

I have a really hard time liking pants that are cropped to the ankle with a wider hem, yet this look is stunning! I guess the lovely blogger had me with the citron trousers and extremely dainty footwear, plus the grace with which she carries herself in this outfit

I recently stumbled onto The Trend Ender, which covers one current trend (eg, semi-tuck, fluorescents, etc) per post. I don't know how accurate the predictions are, but the detailed historical background is marvelous!
