Inge, this week I've been fascinated by Seattle Art Museum's promotional posts for their upcoming Yves St. Laurent: The Perfection of Style exhibit, opening Oct. 11 (any locals wanna go?)
For taste of the show, here's a video promo. Also check out a separate video on their Facebook page showing a mannequin being dressed for the exhibit. https://www.facebook.com/seatt.....096162727/
There are several great behind the scenes gems SAM recently posted, but one other standout that was especially compelling is not from the YSL exhibition at all, but instead a haute couture clothing line by Haida artists. Fascinating. Cultural traditions and artistry can comimg together in the best way. What a gorgeous coat!
Eagle Collar Shawl Coat, by Haida artists Robert Davidson and Dorothy Grant. The Haida are an indigenous/First Nations people based in island communities of Northern British Columbia.
"From 1979 to 1993 Haida artists Robert Davidson and Dorothy Grant collaborated on an haute couture clothing line, FeastWear, that drew inspiration from traditional button robes, fashioned from imported wool and mother-of-pearl buttons beginning about 1850."
