Interesting article about fall spending habits in the fashion arena. Most don't want to spend more than $100, and of those who made clothing purchases last year, 92% don't plan to buy more this year. (Obviously these respondents haven't heard of NAS!)

Also interesting to note, the article mentions colored denim, a new staple here on YLF, as a way to perk up your wardrobe. It also mentions SYC, a direct quote!

Kendall Farr's blog always gives me food for thought as an older woman. I did link to this take on older women and florals in the Forum last week and the comments were interesting. I agree with her comments for the most part as a woman over 60 but may not have so much in my 40's or 50's. I think she's trying to say to keep floral prints sophisticated and her guidelines may help older women to keep out of matronly and juvenile territory. Of course rules are made to be broken.

Sal did a fabulous article about style evolving - in this case, her own clothing style (complete with pictures). It was timely for me, as I had been having thoughts about my own style over the past month or so. And, since I had read Sal's archive, it *had* seemed to me that her style had evolved. What I loved about the article: she had a graciousness towards herself about her past looks; and the thoughts and ideas about style evolution are equally applicable about things other than clothing.

Seems to have good reviews but I haven't honestly spent any time researching it yet. Why it caught my attention and felt worth posting here: It promises to be light-weight with soft cotton inner panels. Major points because it won't suffocate like a shaper (like Spanx) and won't be bulky like bike shorts

Lately I have been thinking about aging and age appropriate dressing. I just discovered this blog called "Advanced Style." It is so inspiring! Some of the ladies' style is more avant-garde than mine, but it is a NY blog after all. What's cool is that the blog was started by a young man. The blog's motto is great:

Angie has already blogged about real women and what it means to be real in terms of size, I found the recent Advertising Standards Authority (UK) decision to ban two L'Oreal's adverts for providing unrealistic and unachievable images to sell their cosmetic products very comforting.
