You've all heard that "Marilyn Monroe was a size 12," and that she was fat, or big, or plus-sized. Simon Doonan puts that legend to rest in this fantastically interesting article subtitled "what I learned about the icon by folding her capri pants." My favorite tidbit: MM didn't have a lot of clothes, but she had an amazing book collection!

The MM story made my heart sink. I love Marilyn. Went through quite a phase as a young adult tin which I read tons of biographies about her and investigations into her death and I collected quite a few photos of her. Never once have I read how tiny she was! I've heard that the size 12 of her day is smaller than our size 12. But still, that tiny? It always made me feel better knowing that such an iconic woman who was/is considered stunningly beautiful wasn't toothpick...and now that's out the window.

Angie, I did not realize that some of the pieces from the link I posted are made with real insect parts and real fur. Rather disappointing, though I still like the all-metal pieces and the ones made with feathers, quills, hair.

AJ, great article! I actually know Lindsey Calla, the blogger mentioned in the article. Or, perhaps I should say I knew her. She used to play at my house when she was in elementary school and we were stationed in NJ. She was a good friend of my daughter. How nice to see her grown up! I was able to pick her out instantly from the photo.

She's quite unstoppable too! Iris is 91 and just launched her collection for M.A.C Cosmetics. A lass with lots of spunk and a mind of her own, always a treat.

I am a shoe freak. And one of my darling sons got me a book about shoes for Christmas. One of the amazing things I learned in this book is there is a shoe museum in Toronto. Unfortunately, I am not going to get to Toronto any time soon to visit. Fortunately, they have monthly podcasts about a particular shoe or shoe related topic. Going slowly trough their archives has been like little mini-museum trips. Here's the link to the archives:

This is related to your home's style, I guess. I LOVE real flowers, in fact that's my favorite part of getting ready for Christmas entertaining - planning our table - then waiting until the day I could finally go get the flowers and greens.
