Hi Inge,

This one is a bit unusual but it is an except from a book about Joan of Arc and describes how her clothing choices formed part of her rebellion including wearing men's clothes and bobbed hair:

There are some really interesting descriptions here as to what was
the norm for medieval dress both for men and for women at the time and for
peasants versus aristocrats.

Hi Inge,

Here is a short, two-minute video tutorial that shows how to tie a butterfly knot scarf two ways with a long, rectangular scarf. It really looks lovely, and simple, too, which is always good.

Here's a fascinating article about Joni Mitchell. It refers to the Hedi Slimane ad campaign for St. Laurent but also includes some quotes that are highly pertinent to our recent forum discussions about personal style and its relationship to fashion. Apparently she took some flak from her musician and actor friends because after her hippie phase she chose to buy some designer things. Said she: "I have to give up my individuality to belong to the club?”

Shipskitty - What an interesting perspective. I am so saving the Joan of Arc article to read at leisure tomorrow. And thank you also for adding the "Nice Things" article (love that!)
Vicki - Super. I always find visuals extremely helpful with scarf knots. (I also love that Jennifer uses Satie in her videos).
Ann - Refreshing indeed, especially the "what you really shouldn't wear" part.

Here's a super adorable blog post by a mom who let her 3 year old son pick out her outfits for a week. He did a pretty good job! Loved her insight here:

yourself to serious: they’re just clothes.

I could definitely stand to lighten up and go easier on myself some days!
