I enjoyed this discussion of followers and leaders tremendously. Proto-hipsters (the connoisseurs) and the appropriators. At the same time I read 2 other articles saying that French style meant not following trends or rules and that Lauren Hutton recommended the same thing - chuck it if it's on trend.
Now, me, I follow the trends precisely so I can avoid them but why does everyone consider those who want to experience the trend lesser than somehow? Lots of Fabbers get real enjoyment from interpreting a GoTo template or a pinspiration or, indeed, other Fabbers.
Article is just chock-a-block full of interesting concepts like this one:
""Normcore doesn't want the freedom to become someone," they say.
"Normcore moves away from a coolness that relies on difference to a
post-authenticity that opts into sameness." [see Prada menswear show!]
