By coincidence, been reading a bit about kids' clothes lately, from the article that credits J. Crew with selling the same clothes to adults and children to the one by m gets dressed on how to wear casual without looking like a kid - ask yourself Would a 5 year old wear this? Her idea is that kids aren't deliberately wearing heavy clunky shoes or anything restricting their movement. Well, here's a kids' collection wanting to put a lie to all that.

It begins by talking of fashion facilitating fantasy roles - kind of like our style monikers on steroids. Cucinelli's stuff is sky-high expensive but is it just an extension of the J Crew idea of kids as shorter adults? Whose fantasy is this?

Haven't read the New Yorker article yet but here is also a brilliant short video interview with the author of "I Am Not Parisian", Alice Pfeiffer, who is Franco-British and contrasts the two cultures. I had read a scholarly book on French bourgeois culture that said the same kind of things but not nearly in as pithy and challenging manner.

I thought this was an interesting read about eco-focused Generation Z and how they are battling a love/hate relationship with fast fashion, guilt over sustainability, and the desire to be fashion-forward in a world of social media mavens, yet they lack the income to really drive the market in a better direction.

Vildy - I've always liked Cucinelli's laid-back styles and luxe knitwear (just for looking, it's very much out of my price range), but not sure how I feel about this kids' collection (everything is cute, but those prices and "impractical-for-kids" fabrics).

I will look for the video.

Carla - that’s a great article! I found myself nodding along through the whole thing - reflexively gravitating toward clothing that fits a previous lifestyle, and being taught to “blend in” when choosing color. Funny how our upbringing can be such an influence on how we dress.
