I heard this episode of Radiolab on the radio about a book ‘Butts: A Backstory’ by Heather Radke. Super interesting part about the development of women’s sizes. Scandalous of course. Created in the era of eugenics (1930s). They (government, department of Home Economics, who knew?) had no data, went out to measure women, threw out the data on everyone who wasn’t white (era also of ‘Italians need not apply’, so even more limited than you might guess), and then everyone gave up on following the standard in the 80s. Also: there’s a lady out there named Natasha, the favourite fit model. Clothes are made for her, lol. If you’ve ever wanted to know who ready made clothes fit, it’s Natasha! Lol
