I remember when a friend from Great Britain, long pre-internet, had to have a friend back home send her proper baby clothes for crawling. The ones here were pastel and she thought babies on the floor ought to have dark garments like navy, burgundy, black, dk brown. Babies have work to do unlike the beige, vanilla, coastal gals.

wow, that article crystallized for me why I don't wear all black outfits.
I have and enjoy all variety of black outerwear including such as crepe blazers. I like them as setting something off. When I got off the train to visit a one time casual boyfriend at his college, I wore a black wool pleated skirt and black sweater. He took one look and cracked, "What are you? An art major?" A beatnik. I felt like a beatnik. I never wore this again.

I had two black outfits: a cotton mexican wedding dress I bought in Key West when my luggage was locked up until the next day. It could be worn back to front either as a vee neck or a square neck. Very romantic. And a linen look skirt with collared sleeveless jacket. Both of these featured bare arms and legs.

But otherwise, in a black top and bottom I feel like a stagehand. In a black pantsuit I feel like a part time mortgage broker. In a black dress I feel like a saleswoman in a couture salon.
