found this through reddit female fashion advice where they point out to beware online purchase where model poses with leg quirkily stretched up in the air because that stretches out the camel toe problem. It can be lots of work to figure out how something you've only seen online could work for you but at least these encourage a sense of humor about it.

I haven't read the NYT article but have long looked into Male Pattern Boldness who sews both men's clothes and women's clothes for his "identical cousin".
I found this a well-balanced article, discussing both the prejudice against producing inclusive sizing as well as the industry-wide technical challenges (such as looms that can physically manage sweaters and other knits in larger sizes). I also find the mention of "micrograding" fascinating - the technique that Universal Standard created, of point-by-point grading between each size, not just between each range of sizes. It seems to be effective but also very time-consuming.
